basically Im trying to find the cheapest thing I can TRY -- as -- I have NOT had a compression pedal-- I ve had MULTI pedals with it-- I have had MODELING amps with it-- didnt like it-- but -- I hear over and over (in the above video even) how its the "secret weapon" and "evens the playing field" and "HiDES SLOPPY PLAYING" --o.k. THAT got my attention-- cause I SUCK--

I use one sometimes live. A Boss CS-3. I have mine set very conservstively. It evens out the volume of the individual notes. In the studio, I can concentrate on my technique and produce an almost perfectly square waveform.

Anyone got waveform pics from their DAW???

Oh, but that's WAY too many knobs for me! I'm easily confused, the four knobs on my Catalinbread Talisman reverb is pushing it for me!

Yngwie likes to use a TS-9 as a clean boost.....so I have read...

I think if you only want to buy one compressor, the best value is the xotic. It ain't cheap, but it sounds good enough to actually use and is made well enough to last decades.

I need to go try a good one to see hear it is supposed to do.
As I have said before, the Joyo I have does not seem to do much.

Im gonna give the JOyo on more try and focus on using the sustain pot in the higher range.

All of the above. A good OD provides plenty of compression

Yeah, pretty much. Distortion by its nature is compressing the signal - the clipping of the waveform is limiting the peaks

I'm just listening.....I might learn something here. I don't use overdrive pedals of any kind. I always found their signal to be too 'plastic' or unnatural sounding....
