Nuthin But A Good Time:

Few songs had the "good time feel" of Poison's 'Nuthin But A Good Time.' I recall seeing the video for the very first time on MTV and thinking, "Wow, who can't identify with that kid washing dishes?"

Originally recorded on 10/19/2018 and left unfinished, I found it this morning in a recovered file folder. This dates back to my hard drive crash a couple of years back, so it's a recovered Audacity project. Because of this status, I cannot edit the original tracks. So, this morning, I grabbed my Les Paul Replica and banged out a solo in one take, added the outtro solo, converted it to a WAV 32 Bit Float and uploaded it.

Thanks to session drummer extraordinaire Ffej Rednil for keeping the beat and use of his studio facility in Burbank. I am playing all guitars and bass and I'm singing all 6 vocal parts.

Good or bad, here it is!!!!

I am humbled, Sir...Thank you for the kind words.

I was never a Poison fan really, but the message of the song resonated with me...in 1988!!!!

My old bass player, from way back, went to high school with the guys in Poison. Well, 75% of them - C.C. came later, but the point is I crossed paths with them a few times. The guys in the band are cool as hell and you have to respect what they achieved, but their music was definitely for an audience I was not a part of.

Much respect indeed!!!!

@gball - I suppose that I'm my own worst enemy. I turned down a full time gig with a major label artist (Warner Bros) in 2007 because (1) I'm not a fan of country music and (2) the contract required you to only play Fender guitars and amps.

Looking back, I should have taken it for a year or two just for the money and the attention, but I've always been somewhat eccentric I suppose, maybe even too much for my own good???

I get it. I've walked away from some (relatively) lucrative offers because they were cover band gigs. I just. Cannot. Play. Covers. Can't/won't do it. I badly miss playing live music, but I literally, and obviously, would rather remain a home player/occasional jammer than play cover songs, even if it paid decently.

Hey, Robert! Very good mix, Brother!! Definitely captures the spirit of 80s Hair Metal... You channeled Brett Michaels very well! One thing I liked is that regardless of being a cover, the guitar sound and character stays yours, not someone trying to do CC DeVille. Again, hats off, Robert!

Thank you, Sir!!!!!

Just such a fun damn song!
