NPMAD

Its Thursday afternoon (4-10pm) here at the moment. I'm hoping that the courier will get it here in a day (I've had a guitar turn up from the same city in that time). Otherwise, some couriers deliver over weekends here & some dont. It's a publicly holiday here on Monday (Australia Day). I hope that doesn't mess with it. Cheers
That has to be my favorite amp of all, regardless of year of manufacture, and I would love to hear a clip of it, they are (the 1987) is the reason I purchased the Origin 50H !!!
Congrats again brother...

Thanks Mitch, the 1987 is my favorite too, in particular the '68 spec. I've been after an example like this for quite some time. I'm just glad that I hadn't bought any of the gas inducing guitar types that I've seen on TTR of late, would've left me short of being able to get this.
I've just ordered a period correct NOS Bulgin 3 prong socket & plug for it16112096996113064929928542273739.png

Excellent that you got what you were after buddy, when I bought my Origin, it was substantially cheaper, and I was able to get it with no interest, that kind of subdued my gas ha ha ...
But has never taken it off the burner.
Cheers to your grail amp my friend..

Ok, I got back home a little while ago (wiped out from working/traveling), unboxed & gave it a quick once over. One thing that I forgot to mention earlier is that the "black bat" type standby switch has been replaced with a normal toggle type. I'll put an original Toroto type back in there.
As I previously mentioned, the filter caps have been replaced at some time (lacquer gone from solder joints), though obviously some time ago as they've been replaced with the original Hunts Daly types, quite rare for some time. The relief seal on the main filter is showing slight signs of swelling (not badly), so I'll replace the electrolytic filter capacitors, including those in the bias supply. I have all these on hand so will probably get to it over the weekend, along with performing all other necessary checks, then, all being good I'll install the valves, which were shipped all protectively boxed & clearly marked as to their positions, bias the power valves & have at it. Cheers

I know all of this represents a little slice of heaven for you, and that is what it is all about! Please post updates and pics, so the rest of us can enjoy along with you!

I replaced all filters yesterday evening, including bias supply filters. 100uf mains (50+50 dual can), screens 50uf, PI 50uf (again 50+50 dual can), 33uf V2 & 33uf V1 (dual axial cap). I'd like to be conditioning them now but have family with kids here visiting at the moment, so it'll have to wait 'till later this afternoon when they've gone.
The main fuse holder needs replacing, notice in the pics that it's shorter than the HT fuse holder. It's been somehow damaged & a large nut on the outside of the chassis is securing it. I have a few of the old (NOS) bakelite Belling Lee types that are commonly seen in the older Marshalls, so will replace both fuse holders so they both the same types & are still "period correct". Cheers
