NPD: Bare Knuckle Miracle Man

Okay, got the pickup in tonight but haven't had the chance to set up the bridge and pickup heights and have a proper play through yet. All I know is that it is all wired up correctly and there are no funny noises. The 53mm spacing is perfect for the Tone Pros bridge.

Here are some photos. Some of them have notes on them.

That black stuff in the photos is liquid electrical tape, used as a precaution against the pickups or jack shorting out against the shield.

As you can see in one of the photos I put six blobs of solder on the last little bit I had left of the 4 metres of slug tape. I then cut that into six pieces and tried as far as possible to solder the wires to them before sticking the tape pieces on top of the existing tape (everything was checked for continuity with the multimeter). I this way I avoided applied the hot soldering iron to lacquered surfaces or plastic pickguards and cavity covers as much as possible.

There are two things I plan to eventually replace on this guitar:

(1) The wiring harness is the one from my 2007 SG Special and I would like to replace it with a custom harness such as one by Tone Man.

(2) The nut is one of those horrid PLEK'd corian things and despite the difficulty of getting them out I am hoping that it can be replaced with a TUSQ XL nut when I eventually have it set up in C Standard for recording with my band

The one thing I did try when I finally got it working again was pinch harmonics. The Miracle Man lives up to its reputation for effortless pinch harmonics, I was peeling them off very easily.

Video/Audio???

I had a first go at adjusting it today. I got the pickups to a height where they seem to be working well but I have some unpleasant harmonics in there which I think derive from fret buzz. I need to adjust the bridge up slightly and then move the pickups up slightly to compensate. The low strings seem to be buzzing on the high frets near the heel of the neck. I had only guessed it with the help of the plectrums that I used to measure the rough height before I pulled it apart (see photos above). I should be able to have a shot at it again on Friday.
