Congrats, Dave.

I just went to the Bare Knuckle page and took a listen to the sound clips for the Rebel Yell pickups, as well as your Miracle Man p'ups.

I may be loading something new into my Jackson!

Decisions...decisions...

I have a few already.

The guitar this one is going into currently has a Cold Sweat set. I will leave the CS neck pickup in it.

My SG Special has a Warpig set (with the Alnico V magnet option in the bridge pickup).

My Explorer has a Nailbomb set (again with the Alnico V magnet option in the bridge pickup).

My SG Junior has a Stockholm P-90.

I listened to the Nailbomb, too. That's definitely another option.

Precision Guitar Kits out of Canada.i got 2 of them i built, one is a hambucker one with poly finish this one is just a True oil stain type finish.but be warned the big G gave them a nasty gram i think cause these are not made any longer.there modeled after the 1961 Les Paul JR,SG shape

Congrats. It is like getting a new guitar!!

I love BKP. Unlike many boutique pickups that are more hype than tone, these have proven to provide quality ofnthe $$ every time.

If your Jackson has a maple neck, especially if it is a neck-through-body, the Miracle Man is a highly recommended pickup. Some of the Soloists etc can be hard to match pickups for, they can end up honky etc. I would ask over at the Bare Knuckles forum or ask them directly. SGs are notoriously difficult to match pickups for. I had the Nailbomb in this SG Standard originally (with the Cold Sweat neck that is currently in it) and I could never get it right. The mids were much too aggressive and raspy in that guitar. The Explorer has mellowed it out a lot. The Cold Sweat bridge has a mid scoop and that balanced the guitar out. The Miracle Man is similar but more powerful, and I need something a little darker and heavier. Also there are always problems balancing pickups in SGs so a really beefy bridge pickup is not really an issue. At the moment I have the neck pickup right down to balance with the Cold Sweat bridge. This is the design issue in SGs that they call 'thin bridge / boomy neck syndrome' ...

Dave,

Your post is well-thought, thorough, and considerate.

But, I must confess...my Jackson is but humble Dinky with a basswood body and maple neck and a rosewood fretboard. I love the little beasty. I currently have a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and a Seymour Duncan Jazz in the neck.

But, as this is one of my modding platforms, I'm never bashful about modding this one.

Miracle Man is also a good choice for that guitar. Several pickups might work. The new Impulse set is a lovely set. Also Holy Diver might work well, but that is quite similar to a JB in sound.

Just check out these videos of the Impulse set. I have to say that I find them very tempting and if I had something like a Dinky or a BC Rich Gunslinger that's probably what I would go for.

This is a Miracle Man bridge plus two (bridge version, with baseplates) Sinner single coils in a HSS Dinky, but he seems to only be using the bridge pickup in this clip:

When I was at the peak of my problems with my Gisbon SG, I literally played just about every guitar at my local Guitar Sinner. I checked each one for hum/buzz and intonation. ONLY the Schecter's, Music Man's and the Imported Jackson's were gig-ready off the shelf. EVERY other guitar had buzz/hum/action/intonation issues that would have required comprehensive setup before you could record with them.
