My pedal board is finally finished after Ryan knocked out this tuner mute pedal after waiting for one to arrive from Loopi for six weeks ... saved $15 too and it does what I needed it to do. When engaged the red light comes on and you hear no sound. When you turn it off you get sound. Either way the tuner works and you can see whether you are in tune any old time.
There was some rejigging and some stuff was changed around, last of all I had to move the tuner mute and the FS-7 further apart due to my big feet when I tested it on the floor today.
Note how far I had to move the pedal off of the existing velcro. So I removed that with my fingernails and then some isopropyl alcohol (which was hard to find for the first month of the pandemic!) and put some new velcro on there
I've had a couple of challenges with this board over the last couple of days. One of them has been the feet thing, that was obvious today at the board's first jam session. Not only did I hit two of the footswitches on the MS-3 at once now and then, causing the unit to bank up or down, but I also did the same thing when using the expression pedal and the mute pedal, by hitting bank up or down on the FS-7. So I moved the FS-7 further toward the front of the board to give more room to step on those pedals. Second I've experienced some ground hum when the mute is engaged, in that musical signals were actually going to the MS-3 via the ground path. I have installed a Behringer HD400 Hum Destroyer under the board now, in the cable between the fuzz and the MS-3 input and in the effects loop return cable from the MS-3. Hopefully this helps but Ryan is going to look at the earth connections on the pedal this Friday anyway.
I'll post a photo of the hum destroyer under the board later when I've had the chance to test it
I tested this arrangement with the feet today and there definitely seems to be less chance of accidentally hitting the A button on the FS-7 when using the EV-30
I have spent most of these evening swearing like a sailor and pushing cables through the centre brace on the board as I have rejigged the format so that the FS-7 footswitch is on the left of the MS-3 away from the EV-30. This of course involved cutting almost all of the cable ties under the board (except for the one on the AC power) and reworking the cables to account for the fact that the MS-3 has moved three inches
It's coming together. I'll finish it tomorrow if I can find the Boss screwdriver to finish the cables.
This is what it looked like earlier today when I decided to move everything]
Well I finally fixed my samsquanch issues. I disabled the 1+2 down and 3+4 up functions using instructions in the MS-3 Application Guide PDF, and relocated the FS-7 over on the left, where it is no longer getting stood on unless I really want to change banks. I can't change banks with the buttons on the MS-3 now, so that's great. There was a LOT of cursing after removing everything except AC power cabling to reroute everything to accomodate moving the MS-3 a couple of inches to the right, but it was worth it. I also bought some new slippers today to celebrate finishing that and getting my tuner mute pedal back from Ryan now in perfect functioning order, so I tested out the slippers on the new arrangement and didn't hit anything I didn't want to hit. I still have to be careful not to hit more than one button on the MS-3 but I can just use a toe to operate those
Okay, after further roadtesting at band practice yesterday when the fuzz came on a few times when using the volume function with the EV-30 it is clear that I need to work on my technique there a little bit. I can't stand on the pedal like I used to with the FV-500H off to the right of my board. I need to rock the back 3/4 of the pedal up and down like I was using one of those little Dunlop Volume X Mini pedals. Indeed I probably would have been fine with one of those if I had one. The photo below shows with colours which cab be operated with my LEFT ONLY (pink), RIGHT ONLY (green), EITHER (yellow), or NEITHER (red). The row behind the MS-3 is not accessible due to the height of the MS-3. I might get a micro pedal riser later to go under the Mooer Micro Preamp in case I want to use the button to change channels on that, but otherwise those can be controlled via turning L1 and L3 on/off via the MS-3.
The micro risers are made by FIX Pedalboards. Micro Pedal Riser — FIX Pedalboards ... I might get one later if someone can post one to me or I can find a local distributor.
