NPBD! New Patchbay Day!

Here you go....no EQ, just a leveling/maximizer plug for max volume. Heck I just leveled what I got from the mic's, from wherever I decided to put them, and panned appropriately.
Remember kids.....beer is food too....but really....my Achilles is messed up.

edit: I ran a pair of ribbon mic’s, out in the room about 8 feet, in a Blumlein stereo setup…you can see them in the video. I was pleasantly surprised with them. They’re in the mix a bit, at least, but soloed…they actually sound better than I thought they would. Otherwise mic’s were: center stack - Sennheiser 421, left -Phaez amp- Audix I5, right -Classic 30(on the WGS loaded Orange cab) -SM57.
That was super fun!

That does sound really good.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch. I tested the decibel meter. It can't be right, I peaked at 116db while I was playing. The worst part is, I was showing it off to my wife and she hit me with the biggest "I told you it was too loud"

.... I hate technology, it eliminates relative perspective.:cautious:

Oh, now you got me thinking. Mine arrives on Thursday. Maybe I’ll put it in the living room above the studio and clog up the dB meter sound hole. Then I can say, See it’s not too loud :pound-hand:

THAT IS GENIOUS!!!!
Why didnt I think of that? I'll have to do that, then slowly build back up to 100db. This will be a process though, next time she wont hit me with an I told you so. She might use her favorite cast iron skillet.

Thanks! Easiest setup in a long time, but still fairly expansive. Five mic’s…I just eyeballed placement, and hit record. I figured that I’d listen back, have to move things around to taste, adjust mic pre levels, and such…but it actually came out fairly useable, once mixed and panned out. That was the first time I mic’d a rig like that with a Blumlein pair. I’ve done groups of acoustic players with that style, and used it as a room mic rig for a live band, but never really tried it on a solo guitar.(used to do mid/side though…different technique/same microphones) That was fun. Too bad about the stumbling though…I’m having a flare up of achilles tendinitis, and by the time I was set up…well…any unwanted shifting of balance was difficult…and attention getting.

It's nice when setup doesn't require an MIT engineering degree.
Get off that ankle and feel better.

Hope you heal up real soon Don!

So anyway….I‘ve just ordered a second Samson isolation box, and this time I checked the price difference…12 cents total….so I don’t feel too bad about missing the ART alternative… Plus…. I do like the option to place accordingly. For my needs, these little boxes tick all the boxes…

You are on a tear! Soon you’ll have boxes with boxes ticking other boxes boxes.
It will be total box debauchery … or should I say … deboxery.
I know. I’m shameless. I’ll let myself out.
