Noise Gate Signal Path - How do you run yours?

I run 2204 & SL 100 wide open into 4x12. My noise gate is the volume knob on my guitar. Nothing like a firing breathing power house behind me with angry hiss that tells me,,yep i got you..lets go..

My observation, anything a gate does is not worth any sacrifice of the EQ & dynamics that are available without it.

100%

Gates = no bueno. Tone/dynamics suck devices. Just learn to control things with the knobs and stompboxes

Depends I guess on amp amd style?
The 5153 for example, or JVM410 on channel 4 are high gain hiss machines. Some stages have hummy power too. Gate is essential for me.
My dynamics are minimal. :p

The beauty of a 4-jack gate is, it's triggered directly by guitar signal. Brilliant idea. But more than I need.
My own setup's pretty straightforward; I run a Decimator X after analog drives etc, but before the volume pedal & digitals.
That's for both the big board and the small one.
With my reunion tour rig, the Carl Martin analog section is quiet enough that I don't need a gate.

That's exactly my feelings based on my limited experience with a noise gate, and the very reason why my experience is limited. :yesway:
