No Amp

Of course I have several but they are becoming unnecessary at least for me in a recording situation.
I still love tube amps of course and I really don't need to argue the point.
I am posting this for those of us who need tone with out the attached speakers volume. I do have an attenuator for my amps. It's all about simplicity to me.

Many players here are very good at recording their amps and I don't question that. However if you are pressed for time with a busy schedule, I find myself not using the amps until the weekend except when I need one for the challenge.

I am not saying you should give up the amps , what I am saying is try something different. I have never been a huge fan of Slipknot but my son liked them and I have said before I've been to Ozfest/knotfest. I don't try to endorse anything but a product that just works well deserves some recognition.

Black Mountain also makes a "slide ring"
That is absolutely awesome looking.

I have two really old tube amps as I have mentioned in other threads. But these days I plug into a Boss GT1 multi effect box and play thru headphones. It interfaces via USB with my laptop. It's not a sophisticated box, but it's serving my purpose. Big plus.... I can play anytime I want and not disturb my bride as she's watching some movie that I frankly have zero interest in. But I get my turn. I like auto racing and will watch it. It all works out.

Technically i can go ampless with my pedal board into my Sansamp PSA 2.0 or Catalinbread Dirtly little secret if i had to for bass or guitar on direct situation. But man me & amps- we need each other lol its been part of my life since a kid & so rewarding to have taken a life long gear & tone journey to arrive at "my sound" all mine-- that translates to very original music That is is not really like anyone else..

Would for sure. 100%.

I'm a dinosaur, I can't imagine having to do without an amp. I'd have to go back to playing only acoustic.
Me too (not the acoustic part...).
Not into recording, but I did play around with that Boss GT-100 I briefly had straight into my PC.
Kinda surprised how good the amp sims and effects sounded through my little 25w Radio Shack stereo on my computer.
But for my usual playing shenanigans, a real amp is what I'm after.
