New low latency wireless headphones day. There are times when I’m playing or messing with gear when I wear corded headphones. Sometimes its a pain with the cord and a guitar in hand. So did some homework on these since Bluetooth sucks with its latency. These were specifically designed for playing and recording music. From what I read the brain cannot detect less than about 12ms latency. Bluetooth can be be 40ms or greater (try BT headphones some time while playing; they are unusable). These come in at 16ms. They are charging right now but I’ll report back later on my impression of them.

Looking pretty good @Don O !

As to latency; I learned years ago, that a few of us “musician types” are acutely sensitive to latency when performing. I pick it out pretty quick @~ 5-7ms. I can pick up on 2-3ms, if I’m really looking for it...and I’m stressed about tracking. I think that is why I don’t play the Kemper all the time. It, probably, runs somewhere between three, and five ms. I can play with that, (happily)no problem, but I do notice it. A couple of the players that I’ve recorded with/for, refuse to deal with it if it gets above seven ms. Then there are a whole bunch that don’t notice/care about working with twenty to twenty five ms.
When working with “mid-side” recording, the figure eight mic track gets duplicated, and the resultant two tracks get time delayed (on purpose…and one gets polarity reversed). This creates a sense of ambiance…11 ms is a tight space, like a closet…33 ms is a big space. I used to love playing with mid-side recording.
