"NIS" the making of Full Album thread

Got Song 3 pretty wrapped up. Refrain. And wanted to touch on something. Goal is 4 a month for 2 1/2 months for 10 CD full album. Have 3 that came real easy & 1 bonus from previous month(Our America) witch kinda led to challenge.

What i wanted to touch on is. The 3 this month came super easy, no effort. Now i have #4 in Reaper with drums & ready to go but don't have the 'feeling' as other ones. Have no rush for goal cause have 11 days left for 4th song. But i am going to treat it as a challenge as if i walked into a studio & the drums are there & i must play. Want to see where this leads vs being super prepared. Also, at first i was emotionally bummed cause i could not get drums to match my idea this time. Scrapped the song & still have a decent drum set up.. I like the pressure to work but not going to ever let it overide the enjoyment factor ever again. Also have something"inspired" coming to my door tomorrow..maybe that is holding my process back lol

"Armour" Song 4 in relatively ok mix. Got 4 songs done in December & will include Our America so 5 are done.

Been interesting week, just free jamming over the holidays no recording till after the 1st.

Mig 50 & Epi 61 LP SG with Burbucker pups have radically changed things, I love the MIG 50 which is completely opposite of how i play. A circuit on its own without pedals. Now have an ever growing arsenal of pedals set up. Had to learn to set the Mig sorta nuetral..but when out in band room in spring it will be a beast at volume. The more you turn it up the better it gets. For now, for a band setting. Only thing concerned with is easy reproduction of the songs. The Mig can do it pretty easy.

The BB 2& 3 pickups are excellent.. Clean & pure tone of guitar. So that & a super black face style amp was a wild adjustment to work on.
Drummer is committed & singer in the works.

I myself am not near a perfect singer but I can hear you have some pitch issues ...it's constant as if you hear naturally just a few cents off. I have a pitch corrector program that I can run your vocal tracks through if you want. I would need to know the key the song is in, naturally. This would really make things nice for you ....as it does for me a lot. <blush>

Absolutely, years ago after accident & lost my singer . Almost quit writing but learned "placed " words in the songs. Thats all i do so we can enjoy the writing process.

The goal is always to back my vocals out & put a real singer in there.

But the key take away is never let anything get in your way of making music.. especially if you use it as an outlet in life to express or stay level..

A full song from idea in your head to complete & doing it all without help except drums is pretty intense.

Have ad out for singer & bass.. would like to play 1 more time

PM my a link to a vocal track and the key. Try it. I'd have fun doing it as well. Wouldn't take long at all.

Man am i a confused writer now !! lol am i Gibson into Marshall, Fender into MIG, Gibson into Fender, Gibson into MIG or just give in & use the 2 channel BUG 22 & make it soo soo easy
In Last week

MIG 50- (opposite of how i play-have to break with pedals) am a wide open circuit player & use tone & vol knob on guitar

Epi Les Paul SG- Gibson BB 2& 3 the clearest PAF style i ever experienced.excellent guitar from top to bottom

Fender Tele- Now have jangle & twang & much more range in the MIG

New Singer !! YAAY Finally ! Strong Male & get this plays Hummingbird Acoustic & Harmonica

Interestingly these first 5 songs were done in the Marshall Origin cleanish strumming the Casino for main foundation..should be an easy thing to do now, Maybe singer will grab the Casino & life will be very easy.

Anyways halted recording last week, will back my vocals out & put singer in & next 5 songs will be a collaboration. Drummer & singer will be participating & looking for bass.

Didn't see any of this coming a month ago..challenge accepted !!

What a waste of time & money last few months lol . Getting band room ready, played at band volume first time in close to 2 years,

Takeaway..
1)the BUG v22 is a killer amp... on 13 watts right at kick level. Clean is clear & gain is solid. Don't even matter what guitar , so responsive to vol & tone knobs. Set both channels even & let it rip

2) Since am out in heated LR, learned how to make amps sound big at low volume. Basically a waste of time & money cause soon as volume goes up in a good circuit used at the volume as it was intended. Everything you just chased at low vol is right in your face. The volume has the depth..the chime..the sustain, the crunch naturally. NIS BR o.jpg

Hahahahhahaa i thought id seen every Fender amp but never seen a super 6. 6x12" speakers im assuming.

What a blessed week. My CL ad has yielded a singer/2nd guitar. Great conversion for a few days by text. He pulled up & we knew each other & has been at BFT concerts as far back as 2011.

a big SOOO... we get to finally do "For the Lost" in its entirety now (we never got to cause of accidents)
Drummer (original 2016 drummer) and i have stayed semi ready with this album since 2016..we have the foundation locked down. We did it before with just me on guitar..now we have the 2nd guitar.

The new vocals are going to be nice. We thought after the CL we would be going slightly softer cause of acoustic player but Singer immediately wanted to go electric .

But that southern-sludge is gonna come out pretty naturally i see, but he playing a great acoustic(Hummingbird) & will probably take advantage & do that style also. The noise is fun but sooner or later ..tone nuance is way better music to play. edge of break up--tasty acoustic/electric..lends to opening up song writing instead of just pounding towards a lead & outro..

Will finish NIS out & plug in new members as the writing continues but it is shifting from NIS(just a way to group it until something popped up)to "Our America" now , reading between the lines ,pretty obvious we are gearing up for the outreach shows like before,
