I've no idea what I'm doing, these were taken with a phone set for night delay and 12MP - there is a 50MP option. I also have an OMD that had too many unknowns and settings that I'll play with another night.
I'm 7 miles south of a town of 3500 and curiously the best pic of the Milk Way was over the neighbor's night lighted out building. You can zoom in to see more detail.
I'll try again, I believe the peak northern hemisphere Milky Way viewing is 7/15. I'm told the southern hemisphere has a much richer night sky but the 20+ days I spent down there I never saw one flapping star...
