Well, I used Valentines day and my week of sheet rocking and spackling (we had a leak in the wall) to my advantage. I could not pass up the this 2007 Epiphone SG G-400 Standard with HSC. I finally have a genuine cherry SG!

Nice one bro! That's a sweet one...
I gave my cherry G400 to my son a couple of weeks back, but still like to pick it up and mess about with it.
Congrats on your new aquisition.

Thanks Alex. I love the grain. I am fairly certain is it solid and not a veneer. Throw in a case, and I was sold!! I have a jumber of great pickups to chose from for this baby. It will rock!!
 
I ripped the Epiphone ones out fairly quickly. They were OK, but too muddy for me. I like clean tones.
I put a set of Wilkinson PAF style pickups, and it came to life.
Funny enough, the ones I put in were a HOT set, 13.0k bridge, and 7.4k neck, yet they are as clear as a bell, and not spiky in the least! (Edited Feb 16 due to typo)

I set the bridge tone up with a DPDT pot and can put the bridge pickup out of phase by pulling the pot knob out.

Nice! That's a 1966 reissue, isn't it? No pickup rings and batwing PG. That's a cool model! I wanted one of those! I have a 2006 G400 with p/u rings and angel wing PG.

Do tell. I am having trouble finding info on it. Even the sales ad called it a 2007 Epi Standard, which is not a real model. I think there was a G400 Custom and a G400 Standard that year, but I am not even certain about that.

Haha, well shake that shame off...You're in the club now. That guitar is a beautiful Cherry....and with that grain, you're a front runner. It's a looker for sure. Ahh, the joy of an SG. Nothing like it.
