NGD - tele

I only have one guitar, a ltd ed Gibson SG Special. It's lovely, but sometimes I feel like I need a second guitar...

So, I just ordered up (will arrive tomorrow) a Squire classic vibe 50s - you all know the one... I've always thought that I should love teles. but I've had some lovely ones over the years and never got on with them. :(

Here are a few pics of good teles I've had but quickly moved on:

(Fujigen - excellent guitar, but a bit more modern than I'd like a tele to be...)

TBH, if i was at home (I'm living abroad) with space then I'd have kept the second two. The MIJ Fender, despite the stella reputation, wasn't good at all, imho...
...

You know, they'll probably be a cheap, as new, Squier CV 50s for sale on Seoul Craigslist next week, but I keep hoping that I'll find a tele I like/love.

Any thoughts.

Well, I hope you find happiness with this next Tele. Or any other guitar for that matter. I for one would like to see a happy Grumpy rather than a grumpy Grumpy…

:D

Yeah, we love to love and love to hate, but I'd love a tele that connects with me.

As I'm reading this, sipping my 2005 Calon Segur, I can't much complain about a reasonably priced geetar... :io:

Mmm (although, these classic vibes have doubled in price (just like the SG faded...) in a short time.

That’s some pretty nice “sipping” wine right there!!!

Congrats! A Tele is an often contentious guitar with a lot of people: either you love one or you absolutely DESPISE them ( there's plenty of well documented articles of sheer disgust here about them from certain members lol).

Me personally? I'm on the love side of them because of everyone else hating them probably more than anything lol but the fact is, they are an extremely versatile guitar. It's simple yet highly effective and with a few extremely minor tweaks, it can become a veritable Swiss Army Knife to play whatever style you so choose.

One of those namely is either going with a humbucker in the bridge OR even a better choice, changing the switching to what's called a 4 way selector which gives you the traditional Bridge, Neck/Bridge Parallel and then Neck switching option but also adds a 4th option of Bridge/Neck Series wiring which makes the two pickups act almost as a humbucker in itself and boosts your volume and output. Incredibly simple to do but adds a whole new level of sounds!

Hope you enjoy this one!

Well, I'm not a hater. Is it my style, no. But I am not one of the haters.

Congrats on the guitar. Love the color.

Wine is fine but whisky's quicker!
