NGD..Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S

Sorry to hijack the guitar thread,,,,,,,,, but Since Gball is like a brother I never knew I had who relocated to the West Coast like I dreamed to do as kid, I just could not let the memories of history stay in a vault un posted.

My first love next to my 1st bike was any kind of ball sports, the outdoors and all activities I could cram in a 24 hour day. By the time 6th grade rolled around, I had had my first ride on a skateboard. By 7th grade, I had some pretty nice ones, and by 8th grade, I made my first skateboard straight out of a lumber mill and on to whatever tools I could find to shape it. I still remember it was made of Oak and I tapered the kick tail with a glued on wedge on top, some rasps to curve the bottom and top and then the best trucks and wheels around, Tracker and Sims at the time.

Then I got one of these cool G & S ones

Then one of these.

Then 2 of these, a thin one and a wider one

Then my Alva.

As 1978 progressed into 1982 and High school ended, College began and I was blessed to buy one of these.

Generic web pic, but man, the flatish black on that one, the uncovered pups, and the thin binding, MOP inlays, MMMMM All but the plastics and knobs it resembles mine. I put Black pickguard on mine and Black/Clear Speed Knobs.

Now that I went down Memory Lane. THAT SCHECTER SUPER SHREDDER sure is a bad MOFO looking guitar.

I had a thought as I was pondering how many of us have guitars we like vs. guitars we don't or think we don't like. Music we like vs music we tolerate vs music we hate.

As for the guitars, I had a sort of epiphany thought run through my head. I like so many guitars. in fact I would say I likely would not talk bad about any guitar unless it truly was a POS no one could play.

That brings me to if we all had unlimited funds, Would we have a more open mind on a guitar we once said it's not for us? In other words, sure it might not be our ideal or our main number 1-5 we reach for, but would we also see it in a different light and find the good in more guitars we once said No thanks to?

chilli ..my threads are requiered to go off the rails at all times...this is some of the few moments i get to hang with my buds and talk gear & music...and i enjoy it..our lives have us trapped inside...until things change..all i do is answer the phone & dispatch & play guitar all day///
want a call for work to happen.?...cook dinner..take a crap..shower..or be recording...they always call then..always

Very interesting guitar; that sustaniac should keep you busy!
recorded rhythm track last night with it. Very easy to play guitar. I whammy bar whacked off for bout half hour with sustainiac on .Fun but the guitar sorta does radical sustain all on its own. Like the sustaniac in its least position can get some kinda wah thing going . On full on mode, You can hit a note & it will sustain until you turn it off or lift finger off string.

Really has me re thinking guitars. It is so easy to play. The neck is fast. I guess the original concept in superstrats was to build em the way a player would mod it. having feautures to enhance playability. Looking at Charvel with 59/jb pickus. Would like to experience this type set up with passive pups.

My Jackson San Dimas (Adrian Smith signature) is very much like your Schecter SVSS model.

The neck is thin, yet wide and its just very easy to play and the fretwork is phenomenal.

My Schecter C1-FR is just the best guitar i have ever owned. It was 100% live gig ready right out of the box...

Sometimes i get so "brand" oriented in my head. I fully agree with you . The Schecter appealed to me cause of the Mahogany body...now i sense a San Dimas to pair with it...there is the 2 live gig guitars. No worry about tuning...put 4 hours on yesterday..did a quick tuning check before recording & every passage to record...it was on. Only had to bring the A string up a tiny bit after about 2 hours.... Your..100% right..these are set up well. I would also think with people struggling with a guitar...these type makes it easier to play

Exactly...

I spend more time playing and less time modding. Imagine trying to learn to.play and fighting tuning and intonation issues!!!

Did you ever take roller skate wheels & bolt em on to a palnk of wood? that was my first board..i was remembering the first urethane wheels we had...think we had to go to a park in DE..nothing in our area at all.
Yes I built probably six different boards, first with steel wheels, then the higher end roller skate wheels, they were poorly built but I skated the dog crap out of them.

Wow..remember those terror rides with metal wheels going down hill about 40 mph !! Homemade ramps....

I got in trouble bad at 11. Parents left me home & we were in a new neighborhood. We went & grabbed 4x 8 plywood & 2x4's & built a ramp up against our garage. Parents show up about 10 kids having a blast. Pop said..son...where you get the wood..everybody scrammed real quick. On monday morning. he marched me up to the super on the construction trailer. I had to confess. Super was cool..said it is common to have some stuff missing. But i think my dad already had talked to him. Super told me.."I could call the cops & you would have to go downtown"..gulp..swallowed my spit & looked at the guy..so guilty. he said..how about you stopping by after school & work it off. Well i did..they had me clean the sites... i stayed on & helped for $3 day....also ..i was blessed with my first Budweiser with the boyz ..lol

that stuck with me..also..always to work hard..i went and bought a skateboard with Simms wheels that summer...dad let the ramp up till Sunday after Church..had to take it down. Good stuff..70's were so dif than now

I miss those days...

Got about 10 hours on it. Marshall 2204 into greenback cab is classic & into gt75/v30 can get real heavy & tight. Like time & space between palm mutes even tho its so quick. The pickups are moddled after a 70's 80's type sound. For actives..pretty close to non active. The tendency for a note to go linear as it tails off vs character is still present, The neck pickup can be brought into bluesy type sounds.

Mahogany..it feels like a Gibson on a strat body. Just to touch..from the neck to the body is sleek....hold on..the neck is that fast. no friction at at all.

Looking for a non active partner to it. have to admit it..I can cop the tone of about 8 dif guitars..it is real hard to go back to something else after experiencing the things these guitars were designed to do. That is play em without fighting em. So glad kept all the classic Marshall's & cabs..not sure whats going on, creativity is way up & gonna play what is just coming out naturally & it feels like 30 years ago .
