NGD: Schecter PT Apocalypse like Sp8ctre's

Nice, I am digging that new one, I think my Ibanez is trying to copy yours..lol Colors are close, mine is Ash yours had a burl top?

No top, just open pore swamp ash. My C-6 Pro has a poplar burl veneer on the top

I stole the ceramic Black Hawk from my C-1 Blackjack SLS FR-S, so we'll see how that goes in this PT Apocalypse.

It doesn't have a neck pickup at the moment for a couple of reasons:

1. When I tried to adjust the neck pickup down to see if a Black Hawk or Impulse would fit in the neck spot it became clear that the head on the factory height adjustment screw was chewed out, so I had to cut that screw with pliers
2. The squarer bobbins don't fit, so I am waiting to get to corners of the hole cut with a smaller radius so that those squarer bobbins will fit properly. This will obviously be a lot easier without the stock pickup hanging there.

The Apocalypse neck pickup can be seen in the case. The bridge Apocalypse is in the Blackjack.

I fitted a Graph Tech Black TUSQ XL string tree! They come two in a pack so I have another one for my Squier Contemporary Telecaster RH!

I coloured the screw with permanent marker. It didn't need any sanding on the bottom and I simply loosened and retightened it after fitting strings to get the tension set right.

I recently received a Bare Knuckle order of stuff for my Squier Telecaster plus some extra pots and caps to fit to some of my other guitars, including this one. Well based on my experience with the Squier I thought I might have to drill the plate to fit the larger diameter US shafts but to my surprise the shafts, washers, and nuts were all the same size although the switch and jack were not CRL, Oaks-Grigsby, or Switchcraft. I'm not sure what they are but the shaft on the pots seemed a bit lower but the same diameter, All of the original pots were min pots. So anyway I went and wired up the plate with all BKP components, including a full-size BKP CTS 550K tone pot, a full-size BKP CTS push-pull (plastic housing with PCB) volume pot, a CRL 3-way switch, and a switchcraft jack. I had problems getting a clean connection for the coil split wires on the original push-pull tone pot when I fitted the BK Impulse pickup set, so I was happy to use the CTS pot, but I had to wire the push-pull up in the volume position (like on my C-6 Pro and Stiletto) otherwise the big BKP Dueland 0.022uF PIO tone cap would not fit in there. Even with that sitting on top of the tone pot the cavity is EXTREMELY full. The PCB on the push-pull is touching either side of the control cavity, and the whole control plate is deeper too due to the larger pots AND the fact that I had to put nuts between the plate and the pot to space it down so that the knobs would look correct. I got it all buttoned up working correctly but be warned that you have to be VERY neat in how you set it out.

The guitar is currently with my mate Steve for a full set-up and wiring check before our next show. It has been fitted with a D'Addario EXL148 12-60 string set with the 20P 3rd swapped out for a 22W. In C standard this guitar is a bit better than the Squier (which is basically unworkable in terms of intonation with a 60 gauge tuned down to C) so Steve should be able to set this one up properly without the string binding between the ferrule and the saddle but the Squier has the ferrules even further forward which has meant that Steve is fitting a Babicz top-loading FCH bridge to it over the next week. The Schecter didn't need this. The Squier also got a brand-new Gotoh control plate and knobs, whereas the Schecter was able to reuse its original control plate and original Hipshot o-ring knobs.

Here's the control plate of my PT Apocalypse Rusty Grey; the plate, knobs, switch knob and screws are all stock (no need to change them, they fit the new components perfectly) but it has a CRL 3-way switch, BKP CTS 550K full-size pots (with a push-pull coil-split switch on the volume pot), a BKP Dueland 0.022uF PIO capacitor, a Switchcraft output jack and a treble bleed circuit on the volume pot. The pickups are a Bare Knuckle Impulse set. I added the treble bleed today; the rest was done last week.

Good looking instrument for sure, I missed the original posts but caught them today.
Congratulations !!
Cheers

I'm liking the Schecter pickups at the moment. They are much better than those hideous EMG-HZ and Seymour Duncan Blackout pickups that came in a couple of my Schecters. Definitely better than the Gibson 490R, 490T and 498T as well.

Not sure if you are aware, those stock pickups are Schecter's USA made model. They are very nice pickups and go for around $350 a set.

I did try the Apocalypse pickups in other guitars, but both times ended up replacing them with Bare Knuckles. One issue I found with the neck pickup is that the thread on one of the legs binds up on any screw you put in it, and then you have to cut the screw off. If they were drilled and shaped for a direct-mount guitar then that would probably be the best outcome. I don't have any except my C-6 Pro but if someone was looking to buy them I could convert them to fit and that would get rid of the bad thread (I'd have to drill the holes out to 3 mm).
