my 2017 Gibson Les Paul Classic T

I ended up with a mostly stock LP with 50's wiring. Saved a few hundred bucks over New, and really enjoyed the assembly.

I started with a 2017 husk, researched part by part, and did a lot of waiting along the way. In the end, I am happy to say I have a player. Love the neck, feel and tone.

The one thing that really stuck out was the weight of this beast. Obviously I know LP are heavy, but I never owned one, and now I know. Also, I've been playing an SG for the last two years, so the difference was quite apparent.

Nickel hardware
Grover locking tuners
57 Classic neck, 57 Classic + bridge. 50's wiring, 500k Bourns, orange drop 22uf
Switchcraft 3-way
Switchcraft jack
Copper shielding
Poker chip

Very nice.

I really like that color.

I also need to give you kudos on a nicely-executed shielding job.

How do you like the locking Grovers?

Thank you

The tuners are awesome. I never had locking before. They are unreal. Two seconds to string up, put on a good stretch, and this thing is always in tune every time I pick it up.

I have no interest in getting them for my SG, but on this guitar, they are perfect.

I want some in gold for my Washburn. It already has Grovers, but they are non-locking.

I'm thinking I should be able to find a set that will fit right in.

Thanks!

Not only did your guitar come out well, but your pics are pretty good too. What camera did you use?

Thank you....all pictures taken with my Samsung S6 phone, on the smallest setting so I could post them here.

Looks incredible. Very nice job. Have always wanted to do this myself.

Were you able to save money over buying a Classic already built-up? Seems you chose basically all of the same parts the 2017's come with stock, wondering if its possible to also save a few bucks (though I get that a big part of it was the DIY aspect of assembling everything).

I think I saved about $486 over new. Keeping in mind I don't have a case. Assuming a case is $150, I saved maybe $336.

Money well spent!

That's great! The OEM Gibson cases are like $200 but you can easily get the equivalent Gator for something like $119, so you did really well. Very tempting project.

It takes pretty nice pics!

I can see the reflection of the phone in the stop-bar in the second picture of your post (#12).

My wife has the iPhone 6S and it takes better pictures than my iPhone 5.

Oh yea, hadn't noticed. You can also see it on the tuners too...funny thing is, when I bought them, I remember saying " hey, I can see the camera reflection in the tuners"

The Gator case is well made. I chose it over the Gibson....
