NGD - HH Affinity Strat - Green Sparkle

I finished late last night. I need to get those pups dialed in!

Wow, RVA, that came out real nice. Bone nut, fret job, rail pick up, total sweetness.

Totally love the new look of all black too. I actually think the black makes the green look better. (I liked the green before).

Unlike eSGEe, I would never ask, nor expect, you to send that beautiful guitar to me. However, im only 1 1/2 hours away, and would be more than willing to pick it up. Just saying! :D

Real nice work man!

Thanks Bocca! You can come by and play it and the rest of them any time!

Here are the sound samples.

&, I thought Hendrix was dead! :celebrate2:

Always love a sound clip, well done RVA. Now, doesn't sound as good as those P90s (were they TA?), but not bad - a little brittle and thin or is that just because I'm playing a 490r and a bass?

Thank you! Nope, you have it right, they are a bit brittle. The PRS 53/10 pickups are "extra vintage" so to speak. The name stands for 1953 style pickups which were introducd in 2010. With that in mind, I thought they would be good HBs for a Strat. Also, the middle pickup is rather dark. I have not yet decided if this provides balance or simply does not work. Anyway, I have a lot of time invested in the wiring, so it stays for now!!!!

So, I just listened again with my Shure 415s, and the clips were harsh; extremely cutting and chimey. Maybe the bit of chorus(?) you have on pushes the pickups too far? The middle is quite nasty, as is the bridge, and the neck is very cutting - that is a dangerous strat; you couldn't use it for blues, but some punky rock like below might suit the guitar as is?

Maybe, for a deadly guitar the pups work, but I'd be surprised if you keep them in there for long! Sorry... :bash:

It is however, a pretty cool guitar. (y)

No need to be sorry. I am not quite so negative as you are on them. That said, time will tell. I have another set that would work in there at the ready!

It might just be that the headphones were ultra harsh. If you're there, and you like the sound then it's all gravy.
