Guild has been around since the early '50s. They were a little more prevalent in the '70s. They even made an electric similar to the Gibson SG.
Guild was purchased by Fender in the '90s. But, they've always made great instruments.

^^ Makes good sense, Kerry - but, you're new acoustic is a stunner. But, you're right that this one is a decent quality everyday guitar that I plan to take out and play with friends, do some open mic nights with friends, etc.
Now, I don't know if this one is just special, but the sounds are really lovely. When I pick it up or stop playing it just rings like a bell endlessly until I touch the strings; beautiful pitch endless sustain it seems.
I was just learning some very basic stuff and it sounds really nice. It's not small sounding at all when picking. This simple technique sounds lovely on the baby guild:

Congrats on that very nice Guild. I think you got a decent deal. Buying a M120 thru Sweetwater would have cost me about $700 after you add in taxes... that is, if I knew this model of Guild existed. When I bought my GS Mini, my absolute top budget was $500. In the end it was about $545 with taxes.
You probably would have been Grumpy-Cramped-Up with the GS Mini's 23" scale. Your M120 is 24 3/4.

I have always thought of the name Guild with top level acoustic guitars. A couple family friends bought Guild Acoustic Guitars and literally grew up with them. The low level Martins are not for serious guitar players. I wish you luck with that beautiful guitar.

OK, maybe the price here is not too bad then; the mini Taylors and mini Martins are close in Price, so maybe the Mexican made guitars travel a bit further and the local RRP increases?
Yeah, I found out that all this smaller guitars are very unique with different size bodies, necks, scale lengths, overall length, etc. The Martin was that much smaller that it did feel more comfortable on the lap, but the fretboard was a tad too tight for me and the sound was compromised a bit too much. The Ibanez dreadnought I had last year was very nice, but I didn't enjoy playing it due to the size. This Guild seems to be just about right for me - I wouldn't classify it as a mini-guitar like the Martin (although it really isn't much bigger) because it just plays and sounds like a standard acoustic. It's interesting just how much difference 1/2 an inch here or there makes overall (as the actress said to the victor...).
Could you make one from a kit, JG? You're very good at that.
They do seem to have a good heritage and be well respected, and I'm really liking everything about the brand - even the traditional kinda heandstock motif is nice, seems to add a bit of something.
I don't wanna rubbish the Martin because a good set-up would have transformed it into a nice guitar. But..., I'd suggest that pricewise you can buy a guitar from Cort that's its equal in every way for $250, as per this one: [버즈비] [아드론닥 스프러스탑의 미니기타!!] Cort 어쿠스틱기타 Earth Mini F Adirondack - You are paying a lot for the Martin name. The new Marin dreadnought junior seems to be a much better instrument, also with the larger scale as Sysco mention which does make a difference to me, although I am not fond of the Bakerlite fretboard and bridge.
Fairly utilitarian though.

1. I play bass......the 4 fingers work the thumb mutes----I have a HARD time getting the thumb to work......

OK, I'm making an effort to get away from politics, as I really do like the fellas I'm arguing with, so some advice:
Go out and geet yeeself a Guild westerley, you won't regret it; M, OM, D, they are all great. My M120 just gets better and better.
Now, an American series like the one below could be something to aim for in the future if I can get my playing up to spec:
