The story goes like this...
I really fell in love with my Epi J-45. I really wanted a 12 string. So, I looked for an Epi J-45 12. Not to be found. Enter the algorithm.
Last Wednesday, what "pops up"? A Gibson J-45 12 on Reverb. On sale. Free expedited shipping. Coincidence?
Moreover, it was at Manchester Music Mill, which is the closest music store to me (in the middle of nowhere New Hampshire). Coincidence?
Y'all know the middle part: 1 part rum. 1 part blunt, 1 part credit card. Coincidence?
What shows up at my door this Friday morning at 10am? A Gibson J-45 12.
Buyer's remorse? Not a chance. It's magnificent. I could have bought 5 Epis for what the Gibson cost, BUT, hey. I could have spent the money on rent.
They do make a nice couple

They are a great shop. I’ve been trying to get a free weekend to take a cruise up there. They are sponsoring the N. E. Guitar Expo this Sunday in Natick, MA. Against better judgement, I am going to go check out the show.

Happy New 12 String Day!

Thanks. I'm very happy.
It really is a great place. It's about an hour south of me.
I went with a friend once who was looking for a Reverend. They actually opened up a new one that he wanted to check out. Took it right out of stock Then into the "Amp Room".
That was ridiculous.
I saw an Emperor II jazz box that I wanted in the worst way. But, I promised my wife that I wouldn't buy anything while I was there (I did buy some strings). I called the next day, and it was gone :BH:
Definitively go to the show. They guys there are awesome.

At this point in time. Only guitar I can see me buying would be an acoustic 12 string. Just can’t justify the cost.

Bought a Yamaha 12 string in 73, but it has some issues and really isn’t worth repairing.

I've always had a 12 string. I couldn't afford the J-45 12 so I bought an Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Hummingbird 12. It's a great guitar but I would have preferred a slope shoulder. The Hummingbird is uncomfortably big.

Off topic, but talking a Hummingbird story... When I was a wee lad of 14 or 15 (the Summer of Love) my friend's brother brought a brand new Hummingbird home from college in Kansas. It was so pretty. And so BIG. The bunch us played it, took it to the beach, played it on the sailboat. Just generally abused that poor thing without mercy. Dave's brother never said a word. Come September he packed it up and went back to Kansas.
To this day, I wonder what ever became of that guitar? When I consider the care I take with my guitars, I sometimes want to buy an old Hummingbird just to baby it and make amends.
In my mind, it's still one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen.
