2010 Fender 72 Telecaster Deluxe, double humbucker. 12 radius. Sounds fantastic...fit & finish is absolutely flawless. It is real hard to put down. It is a perfect match for the Peavey Reactor tele..never say never in gear...Tele's 3 weeks ago where banned from the house..lol..now on every song & prefer to write on it. Just great chord strum to lead ..back n forth guitars. Very precise, very articulate guitar.72 tele (2).jpg72 Tele sofa (2).jpg72 tele Supro (2).jpg72 rele rear a.jpg72 tele & PV (2).jpg72 Tele rear (2).jpg

That's a beautiful Tele. I think if I am ever going to come to terms with a Tele it's going to be one like that, with humbuckers instead of singles.
Gball... you might be on to it. Me ..primarily SG-LP player needed the familiarity but still searched for what a Tele does dif....the 72 is a pretty nice transition to get a feel for a tele..I absolutely despised them for 2+ years now...all i did was hurt myself by not having another tone option available.

So is it the feel that's different or does it actually have it's own sound that's different from the LP/SG tone?

I'm a newer player than most here and I thought the reason for a Tele was to get that two single coil sound. (even though I've had the two humbucker Tele)
I never played mine enough to discern it. I do not bond well with Tele's in any configuration...don't know why?

I have one of those also...
IMHO this is one of Fender's very interesting innovations.

A Tele that's wired exactly like a Les Paul.
To me the sound is unique, and not like any other guitar.
That's why I like mine so well. I like the neck p'up, and I
like the bridge p'up, and I love the middle position.

Telecaster players will tell you that the Tele bridge pickup is
the heart of the Telecaster tone, and this is a true thing. (for them).
But the Tele Deluxe (and the Thinline) are something else.
Something more.

Mine was MIM in 2006, so it's technically a replica of
the old ones. But it doesn't use the CuNiFe (copper/nickle/iron)
magnets that the originals did, so I don't believe it really sounds
like the old '70s CBS Fender Tele Deluxes either.

But I don't care about that. I saw mine on a music store wall, and
took it down and tuned it, and played it through some amps I could
not afford, and decided I liked the tone and the feel of it.

I did end up replacing the wiring on mine later, and used CTS 500k pots.
Something to consider, but not totally necessary if it sounds good through
your amp(s) and pedals. Mine sounds like this:

To answer Spectre's question: This guitar is nothing like any other. It's not like a traddie
Telecaster, and Telecaster purists have been seen to glance at my '72 Deluxe and
then look away... stern disapproval from purists is one of the joys of owning this
instrument. *grins
The Seth Lover designed Fender "wide range" hum buckers are like no other pickups.
This model was designed for the confounding of purists of all stripes, and to offer
musicians something ELSE besides the boring Lesters and the samo-samo Strats.

A maple neck with a 12" radius and a Fender scale doesn't feel like any other Fender
or Gibson that I've played. It took me a while to get used to mine, but I practiced with
it until it felt like an old friend.

So ya gotta play it. You'll either love it or shove it. And to hell with the guitar police.
People who think that a Telecaster is only good for certain genres of music have
not a clue about how versatile they really are.

On your guys side of the tele thing. could never bond..but always heard something in them,,that would be so usable.

Would say the feel & tone are dif..maybe a fair answer is..we end up sounding like us almost no matter what we do. Actually can get all the guitars and amps reasonably close if need be..last few months actually trying to do the opposite...what gear can get me headed somewhere else in the tone or inspiration department. Soon as each guitar gets here..a song happens..it always talks to me..or if it doesnt..been a few that didn't..back for sale they go..

after first impression ..no bond..gone...very much look for vids on what sounds i am looking for..with the guy demoing with gear as close to mine..or at least into a classic fender-Vox-marshall..that helps me decipher & screen a lil.

What the tele does for my music..think of a surgical precision in a scalpel vs a dull blade. For some reason the tele's are very dif under the mic..even same amp settings..it stays tight throughout the chord slash or power chord hit. Last few years been playing with less & less gain..single coils seem to enter into more prevalent tone shaping it seems. The lil nuances possibly.

Also us e the Nighthawk in single coil mode a bunch & then flip switch to fill it up..maybe my best guitar i won in sheer versatility & comfort..its sorta tele/Sg/Lp-strat all in one..but has some of its own mojo..

Very cool sir !!

Just put 2 hours in with it...picked the right one...it rocks..but it got that poppy type sound for J's voice..that is the main reason i have been on a search...to exploit the singer ..have a few songs that it will get to really shine on...
