If you are looking for a fantastic guitar, but don't want to drop too much $$$ you might want to try one of these out.

Eastman Guitars. I have a few friends on another forum who have been selling Gibson's and buying these things up.

I am seriously considering buying a hollow body. Of course I would like a Gibson, but I cannot justify dropping that much $$$ on one. I was going to look into an Epiphone or Gretsch. I am very impressed with your Eastman, and I have just found an Australian distributor...:

Cheers and congrats, that is a sweet axe.

Ive rubbed junk on a couple.
I must say they did feel play and sound like a quality instrument.

Buying new you can choose a variety of finishes as well I believe.

Certainly right up[ there with Gibson/Fender/GODIN....(beat ya to it Norm) --- in quality -- construction.........and price

A new SB59/V....will set ya back almost 2 grand............

Eastman make some very nice guitars. I've been looking at one of these for a while now. Maybe after Christmas :)

They are very well crafted instruments! The company has been making quality violins for many years.

Get the 486 if you can, it will have a lot of upgrades, such as Seymour Duncan pickups.

That 59 Adrian posted comes with Lollar Imperials!

The magazine ads that I've seen for Eastman guitars, look very good and have gotten my attention for a while now. Magazine reviews of Eastman's are pretty solid too. "Handcrafted in Beijing"

They are gaining a foothold as a quality China import. They have very good QC and many people I know are are selling off the Gibson Les Paul's and playing these.

I have a Gibson Custom Shop CS-336 hanging next to the Eastman and they don't look $3500 apart. I'm going to play them both tonight and see how I feel.

The 336 is a Les Paul size semi-hollow though...

Ill just leave this here......................................... CHINESE made 335 copy.....................400.00

Having had those Epiphones in hand and played them I can tell you they don't compare to the Eastman. The Eastman guitars also come with a lot of quality parts
such as Seymour Duncan and Lollar Pickups...

You don't get an Ebony board and a hard case with those Epi's either.

But you are paying the premium.

I agree the eastman has a feel -- Ive not played the NEW inspired by GIBSON 335 (it LOOKS very nioce) Im not a semi or hollow body guy really ---my favorite so far is a 169.00 Grote ........also made in .....China........
;)

---Just bustin yer Balls Chris--- I really like the eastman Lester I posted above -- I like the fact they offer various finishes to. TBTH I HATE the Squire bullet proof finishes love the guitars-- the tones and so one -- but the thick clear coat is a bitch ----way way way love the FEEL of OLD beat to crap nitro

That's sweet, another option is a Hagstrom Viking. I have always wanted a 335 style, just never pulled the trigger, came close with a used Epi Wildcat I tried out at a local music store.

I went for the Eastman on recommendation of a good friend. He has sold all his Gibson's and settled in for the long haul with Eastman.

He gave me solid advice from what I'm feeling and hearing with this one. Maybe time to hunt down an Eastman Les Paul type???
