NGD: Early Christmas Edition

I've wanted one of these for years, particularly in the Red Reign finish. Almost bought the Lambo Blue edition off a buddy in 2019, but cash was super tight then and he sold it to someone else when I couldn't scrape together enough funds.

Then, after seeing another buddy's video using his, it cemented how much I love this finish.

Since we just sold our townhouse and made a tidy sum on it, we decided to go a little splurge-y on Christmas this year. I get this, a neck pickup for my Franken7 and a bundle of guitar lessons from a local guy who is allegedly a legendary guitar teacher (more on that later).

Got it used for about $500 less than I could get it new, which made me pretty happy. It has like 3 or 4 very, very tiny dings in it that are super hard to see unless you're looking for them. My only quibble is the action is a little higher than I'd like, but it already has a tiny bit of fret buzz, so I'm not sure I'll be able to wrangle the Floyd to a place of lower action, proper intonation and no fret buzz.

Otherwise, I absolutely love it. Can't wait to really screw around with the Sustainiac system, too.

Now all that's left is to wait until December 25th, since I'm not allowed to play it til Christmas morning.

That is sweet!! Love that finish too. I have noodled with the Sustainiac on mine a bit and really like it! Performs very well! And the push in arm on the bridge is a super good idea! No more arm flying around.
Action does look high, can the bridge be lowered and adjust truss to weed out that buzz?

Iron1, Did you check the truss rod adjustment for neck relief and run straight edge and fret rocker type tests on the neck to check for high frets etc?

I think it can, but it's a Floyd Rose, so anything you do means you have to do a lot of other things. If I could have gotten the Sustainiac without the Floyd, in this finish, I would have. But, I also don't have a 7 string with a trem, so now I do...

I've only done a few minor truss adjustments, so I'm a little nervous about doing that to this one, but that doesn't mean I won't try. LOL. I don't have a straight edge, but this sounds like a great excuse to buy the one I've had sitting in my Stew Mac shopping cart for the last year or so.

Yeah an FR makes for interesting spring settings tuning etc but in theory it can go lower with a truss adjust. Nice to have a whammy on one.

Iron, don't be nervous. Best advice turn T rod slowly and work up to the final result. Go like 1/8 turn in the direction needed.
