...so, I got the first Yamaha Revstar (RS502T) in trade for a lot of things I didn't need and a little cash.

I liked it so much I had to buy it's brother the Yamaha Revstar RS620.

The 502 has P90's and the 620 has Humbuckers. The green on the 620 is much brighter too!

Sp8ctre, I love it! I looked at several of these recently when a local music shop was closing up and discounting them. I lookd at a lower model in TV yellow that was great and then one like you got but in a denim looking blue. It was awesome. Alas, I didn't buy one.
How does it sound?

They both sound really good. The P90 model better and I usually don't care for P90's. These are more subtle and tempered in their breakup.
The Humbucker model sounds like any typical Les Paul style Humbucker guitar. The push/pull dry switch function doesn't really do much fo me.
I'd rather they put a conventional coil split in the humbuckers...

The Dry Switch EQ circuit was specifically designed for the RevStar series and is engaged using a familiar pull/push tone pot. But instead of activating a conventional coil split/tap, a passive circuit kicks in that's reported to filter out low frequencies for a "bright, clear tone with lots of body, no hum and plenty of power."

This offers players the benefits of using a no noise humbucking setup for single coil sounds, but without removing any windings from the circuit or drastically altering the output volume. Yamaha says that the tone tweaking effects of the Dry Switch can also be applied to single coil and P90 pickups, too.
 
nice--- those are great guitars-- I owned NOTHING BUT Yamahas for a time--- then wondered away chasing Gibson rainbows......

I really like the Revstar line / doublecut types in general.

Never held one - heavy or no?
Balance / Neck Dive?

I have several of those -320 and 420, in my Reverb watch list for months lol.

They are not heavy at all. I have not weighed then, but I will this weekend.

Great balance and no neck dive!

After further consideration, I did not need to hear this......
I am getting the Revstar GAS again.
I really cant justify another guitar purchase, or the last 2 or 3 for that matter......

Good thing you're not here to play mine then! You'd be headed out to buy one...

Seriously though, look around Reverb and such. Some stores are clearing these out. I got the 620 brand new in the box for $500. The 502 cost me $300 and some parts I had lying around. It is also as new!
 
those are all really nice.
If I do it would likely be in the form of one of the 2 lower end models.
I'm going to have to play one of mine I have not played lately to get my mind off this.
 
what became of these, Chris?
I know you purged a lot of gear.
what was your final assessment of them in general.
I am still interested in one of the lower tier models that is more in my budget.
