NGD - '06 Gibson Flying V Faded Cherry

@fitz that’s the same case I got for my black V , I couldn’t find one used , so I got one through GC brand new, it was $ 235 out the door, congrats on finding one used.
New ones are still about that much.
Epi cases are close to half that if you don't mind the logo.
This used Gibby case was about middle ground, but I just had to add a couple of bucks onto what I got for the stuff I didn't want.

I had to add $135, because GC only knocked a $100 off the price of the guitar
For not having the case, as it was advertised with.

I had the reflector knobs on my white Gibson V but I changed them to original witch hat knobs (gold) from back in the days (I had them on my Hoyer) to match the now yellowed finish. An original T-Top from ´79 (yeah, like the block inlay V) and a Seymour Duncan ´59 with nickle cover in the neck position.
The faded V was a bargain when it came out, like a normal V but just the finish is different, it is otherwise a full killer Flying V. They made some great Vs around 2005.
Gibson nowadays is double or more the prize but sure that is 20 years ago already.
My V is 20 years old next year in February.
Time goes by fast.

Life is good,
Robin

How did I miss this thread!?

I love this guitar so much! (I have the same one)

Frigging rules! Hail to the V's!

I blacked my plastics out for a while, then went back to white.
I put a Seymour Duncan Black Winter in the bridge and have never been happier with a guitar, ever.

Just got a deal on a 490T on Reverb today to swap out the 498T.
It's an open coil black bobbin, so I'll need to swap the cover too.
I seem to prefer to A2 mags over A5's.
Worked for me on the LP Studio that came with the same 490R/498T setup.

There are several places to get magnets. Mojotone for one. Alnico 2 Cast Bar Magnet 2.444'' Long
Thanks for the link, I was finding lots of A5, or why bother pricing at StewMac.

I should have tried my go-to.
Might also be buying some tolex soon - picking up an amp today that may need some cosmetics...
