NGD - '06 Gibson Flying V Faded Cherry

Just arrived after a 2 week wait.

Nice SBK flight case, but I may look for a Gibson hard shell.


Polka dots...? Not for long.
Original pickguard was included, along with the 498T that's been replaced with an SD Phat Cat.
Witch hat knobs gotta go too.
Not sure if the ones included are original either.



Some minor back scratches, but I can make that go away.

Obvious sloppy cover install on the stock 490R that coming off.
Phat Cat coming out if anyone's interested - I'll throw in the polka dot PG...

Got it stripped, cleaned & oiled the board, and rubbed on some cherry finish restorer.

Back scratches mostly came out.
Might clean up even better after a paste wax buff.

Got the guts re-mounted on the original PG.
That clown had the 498T moved to the neck and still wired to the bridge vol pot.
So the 490R was the loose pup in the case - all back to normal now.


Reassembled and took it upstairs by the TV for a new set of 9-42's

Weighing in at a back breaking 6.5 #.

Plugged it in after a rough tune & bridge height adjustment.
It's making proper noises, and the controls are all functioning correctly.
Going to let the neck acclimate to having string tension again after a weeklong trip from the west coast.
Still need to check intonage and see if I need a truss rod tweak before final tuning.


Might need a strap, Brad...

My amps can get fairly loud, but not sure they'll carry to NJ.

I'm sure there's some variation from year to year, but I think the ones I have may be stock.
I also think the reflectors look good too.

Yea they could very well be the stock ones, I am by no means an expert on anything, but I was just sharing what mine came with.
