I have a FR on the Mockingbird, it is fine. I don't care for the bar tightenjng thread thjng, it loosens constantly and the bar flaps around. The one I had on the Epi Prophecy I did not like, the way the tunung screws sit and the intonation screws stick out the back, there was no torque on the low E where the intonation had to be set, if that makes sense. The Pro series FR looks remarkably like the Edge.
The Ibanez ones have tunees and intonatoon in a different spot, that is never a problem. The little platic bushings on the bar can wear oit, just change them amd the bar isn't flapping around. Stays in tune the same.

FR original. Note that as low E intonation gets longer there is more sticking out the back than the front dor tuner to press down on amd I literally had to use pliers to tune it once the tuner turned in a ways.

Ibanez Edge. Note where the tuners are but the intonation screws are in front amd above. Vreates no issues, looks streamlined.

I think it's the classic case of someone invented something, and well, the Japanese came along and perfected it!

I did look into buying an Edge, but any version that I was interested in was close to or over $300 USD, keeping in mind the cost of the guitar being $120..... Lol.

I just had bought this guitar for spare parts, but ended up putting it in service once I received it and saw all the upgrades the prior owner had done.

There's almost $275 in pickups alone, and it's obvious he had the frets leveled with hardly any wear. Made it a dream to "Stevify" it Lol.

But given the choice I would pick the Original Ibanez Edge, but the Edge III this one had was full of corrosion, stripped screws etc...

Sorry not trying to judge your chpice, I would have made the same with that guitar. But a higher end Ibby with an Edge something, I personally wouldn't change out.
Gonna be a rockin git fiddle!

No worries, didn't take it as a "judgement" whatsoever!

It's convo's like these where I get some of my best education. A free exchange of ideas.

I saw the prices on the Ibby's, and all I could hear was Mts Steves voice telling me about the law of diminishing returns Lol.

She was telling me all along to buy a better model, so I wouldn't bankrupt myself on the upgrades, but once again, how you gonna learn if you don't try?

At least that's my excuse.
