New symphonic metal song

That’s really nice. Like it a lot.

Years ago guitarweasel got me hooked on the band Nightwish. Some of the same vibe as this song.

Actually, about 15 years ago. my sister showed me that band. since then i've discovered others like it. Epica, Kamelot, Delain, Ancient Bards. etc. Truthfully i got turned onto adding symphony to metal after hearind the S&M album Metallica did. At that point it never occured to me that you could do that. Ever since, its been something i've always tried to emulate, especially Nightwish and Epica.

I have S&M on both CD and DVD. It is one seriously cool album/dvd. I love how the orchestra was getting into the music. I read during intermission, the guys in the orchestra were rocking it so hard they had to change into dry clothes for the second half. Sad fact. A couple years later, The orchestra director, Michael Kamen, passed away. Heart attack.

Had no idea about the director passing, no wonder they had another director in their most recent S&M :/

Very cool! Nice job you did here!

Cool thing about metal and symphonic music is if you go back to the early 19th century, guys like Richard Wagner pushed the bar with his symphonies by going hard with bass sections that no one else thought of, used the infamous tritones ( aka Diabolus In Musica) and insisted on every player to project their sound louder than anyone else. People were literally scared of his symphonies at times but fast forward about 130-140 years and we see that he actually laid down the very first blueprints of metal as we know it.

So its actually the perfect pairing and the two together make total sense!

I didn’t think about that, but you’re right! The other way it’s been explained is that one of the things metal and orchestras have in common is that they sound huge. You put the two together and it sounds absolutely immense.
