New Speaker Day: Weber ToneCVLT

Started down the journey of finding some speakers that I want to hold onto and finally pulled the trigger on a couple. @CoyotesGator hooked me up and I got a set of Grey Wolf's and a Black Shuck.

The Grey Wolf's are going into a 2x12 cab, either the one I have that is regular sized, or a new cab on the way which is an oversized. I am going to try them out in both.

I got a single Black Shuck to try out in a Randall 412 cab. The intention is if I like the sound I'll order up another one and maybe a set of 2 others that compliment them. The other option is to order up one more and a 15" to refit the Randall 215 cab I have as well. Not sure how I want to go about it.

Fired up the ol' recording rig last night and got a capture of the Jaguar that I'm replacing so I can compare the old and new. The playing sucks, which means I'm going to need to fire my guitarist, but what I learned is that the Weber is so much more pleasant to listen to. MASSIVE bass response in this cab, but a nice smooth mid-range and clean top end.

Sounds like you're happy with the speakers. Congrats to yet another step in your quest for sonic nirvana...

Do these Weber's share some specific "DNA" with other speaker types/brands?

I saw some comparison videos once and they were shooting them out against some V30 Celestions. In the same vein but way more beefed up in the low end

Yeah, there's some similarities but they are their own flavor. Not a lot of videos for the Tonecult speakers, but there are a few.
