I have to blame TTR's ivan H with his Proco Rat build thread, that gassed me up for this new project. Thanks Buddy... :flame:

Allow me to present you with the BYOC Phase Royal kit in it's, yet to be assembled goodness:

With projects like this, I like to use this soft foamy block to keep the tiny components secured and organized. That's 38 resistors all grouped and separated by their values:

Next pics I plan to provide is of the completed and working assembly, when I'm done. And if all is good, I'll remove everything from the enclosure and give the enclosure some kind of finish.

Here's a tip for the "BYOC Tips": The instructions are pretty good. Always read carefully thru the whole set of instructions and avoid jumping ahead unless you have analyzed well the consequences. Plus... BYOC has a very useful forum where you can gather even more useful info and "Tips" specifically for the pedal that you're building. I don't know why these extra BYOC forum tips are not included in the instructions... :hmmm:. Thought I tip you to the extra tips of tips...

Not many demos, but this one is OK:

"come too" well done Chubbles......very well done ;)

Good on ya Sysco --- I wish you much luck--- just looking at all them tiny little wires and caps and transistamaders makes me want to take a hammer and smash things..............dont do soldering.......makes me hostile. Owegi is trying to help me work through this deep seeded hatred of small wiring and solder........but its a long long road.......

Thanks... I don't mind doing stuff like this. Actually, I do it because it's fun. I use a lot of lighting, lots of magnification, Pandora in the background, and let my OCD run Zakk Wylde.

Anyways, all is well. I finished the pedal kit yesterday. It works... yay... :dood:. I'll F with it some more today with different guitars and amps, and get a grip on the controls of the pedal.

The real hard part is yet to come: Applying a decent finish with labeling.

Tis good people like me know people like you (Owegi is another of your kind with the solder and tiny magnification devices and mad scientist laboratories and such) ---- If I cant duct tape it ---or hit it with hammer ----- off it goes to his room of many wires....and clips and tubes and that machine that goes pppffzzzt!

This helps (Harbor Freight)

Or at least that's what I use.
Those are really "handy" to have.

These are really useful, too...
An Optivisor with a light attachment.
A wire cutter/stripper tool
Brass wire style soldering tip cleaner (Much better than a wet sponge as a cleaner)
My Helping Hands (F the magnifier... see Optivisor)
An Orange Stick
And an Articulated Hobby Vise (Harbor Freight)

Its taken me over a week to rewire my Explorer........and well its still not done.........

Nice job!!!
Fudge!!!
Now I have to break down, and do a modulation build....I actually like the project that you chose too...the mix knob is huge!
I'm supposed to get some amp stuff that I've been waiting for, for a long time, in soon though. I really want that off my bench before I dive in to one of these though.
Still, stellar work!...and inspiring too!

I really do appreciate the compliments. But a lot of the kudos has to go with the source of the product. Quality of parts, instructions, tolerances of the pre drilled enclosure, product support... it all adds up. One thing for sure on this build: There is no room for messy soldering skills... be warned!

So..........this would be a no, no then

NICE!
I keep forgetting to turn the heat down more on the solder station and the footswitch lugs start melting out of the switch
my A/B/Y went together real quick and easy- its super simple with few components.

Time and setting up an hfe test board has kept me from the Fuzz Face variant I've had on deck the last year or more.
Its not a kit but its relatively simple and low parts count.
The enclosure is drilled out and painted but got scratched up a little.
I was going to learn waterslide decals then clear coat it.
I have yet to try the oven baking method.
I have an old toaster oven in the garage for well, eventually.

so, i just write on blue painters tape lol.
