New Mod: Head re-tolex

I have my favorite two 412 cabinets from Crate that are in a Blonde Fender tolex. I'm going to refinish my BV120h to match them. I ordered up the tolex from Mojotone this morning. This week, I'll begin stripping down the old black cover and prep for landing.

So...umm...in the other thread the topic of carpeted bass amps was discussed, and the idea of carpeted guitar amps came up.

I believe this is a perfect opportunity for you to make a real statement.

Is that the early sixties Fender Blonde? I have ‘64Bandmaster in Blonde. Only, it’s darkened with age.

I agree with the others. I also love the custom colors.

NUTHIN WRONG either way Bro John. I would drool at your rigs no matter if it matched or was clad in Pink elephant tolex.

Mojotone came through today and I received the material. A quick snip of a corner and a trip to the office, I was able to check how close Fender Blonde is to Crate Palomino.

In the room and to the eye, it's a spot on match. With the camera, there is a slight variation...

Stripped the head down today. I used a heat gun for most of it, but still, some of the wood came up with the tolex. I'll have to do quite a bit of sanding and filling before I put on the new tolex.

How difficult was it to remove the tolex? I've got a 412A Crate Blue Voodoo that I want to recover.

Killer "pickguard art" on the SG. I have never heard of DST.
