New Drum Set Day

I had a red glitter kit -- was a hand me down from some family friends who used to perform in Vegas. ... they were from Carrolton Ohio and had left a kit with their Mom -- somehow it wound up in my basement :)
Pearl Red Glitter kit---

these are the guys --

Was this Carrolton Ohio for a Rogers kit or different brand? I know some time period of Rogers were made in Covington Ohio in the 60's.

Jeez, was just searching around on FB Marketplace. There's a crap ton of used sets out there, all over the map on prices. But, very few complete kits, I mean everything. Lots of just 3, 4, or 5 drums, no stands or cymbals, etc. Is that typical? Guess I'll have to look into thrones too.

Dono, You won't go wrong with a Roc n Soc, Hydraulic adjusted Throne,
Where one will likely get a shock is prices of Cymbals. My first Kit came with a complete set of stands.
Pearl Exports 5 piece. 10,12,14, kick, snare. All for about $700 in 2000.

Then to my shock, I went to buy cymbals. Here is where one of the fellas working at the Mars Music where I bought my first kit, hooked me up with a sweet Ride Cymbal and Chinese cymbal for about $50 a pc. This took me far in defraying the cost of a set of Hats, ride, crash which even for the cheapest complete sets of B8 Sabians, ran almost 1/2 what I payed for the whole drum kit.

I remember it being a pearl kit-------- but now that you mention it --- they might have been Rogers......I have no pics of the kit------they were in my room for a while but that was to loud they got relegated to the basement --- about the time I decided to spend MORE TIME IN THE BASEMENT :)

Keep Looking Dono, you should be able to find something like this.

Tried posting the link to a FB Ad, no dice, Maybe a pic will work.

OH YEAH, SON OF A BEOATCH. I forget, for some reason, I can never post good sales ads off Facebook Marketplace for people's reference.. Not sure if it is a FB thing or a TTR thing or what.

Chilli, what's this selling for? I'm budgeting maybe $1K to $2K for the whole setup.

Don, if you know a good drummer it may help you from avoiding a dump run like this garbage.

Good idea you two. I haven't met a drummer yet in the new hood. One of the construction guys that poured my driveway and another slab is a guitar player. He asked if I wanted to be in his church's band that plays every Sunday. While honored, it seemed like too much work for me and I'm a non-practicing Catholic.

I grabbed this Tama Rockstar set a few years ago from an old jazz drummer who used to play the Playboy Club in Boston when the Kennedy brothers used to drink there before their political careers took off. He was retiring, and this was the set for his students to play across from him. It was $200.00, and all tuned up for me to try out. For another $100.00 he threw in a pair of vintage Zildjian New Beat hi-hats. I had stands kicking around, as well as a Ludwig Speed-King pedal, and a Rogers Snare (he threw in a Yamaha snare). Just needed to buy a throne and a couple of cymbals. Bought it for the same reason you are.
