Well, in our family, we open our Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve, just after dinner.
After a huge feed of turkey, ham, prawns (shrimps, to you yankee types!!!) and wine, my son Liam was absolutely overjoyed... He got a Bass guitar and amp!
A Hamer Slammer Series P/J bass and a 25W Orange Crush bass amp.

Lucky bugger. He's lucky I haven't stolen it off him yet!

Oh yeah. Hannah didn't miss out either. She got a new Trevor James of London flute, to replace the one we bought on eBay, which really requires a full rebuild. It's served her well for two years, but is now leaking air and the springs are slackening up.
To be honest, the difference between a rebuild and new one wasn't much, so we bought a brand new one for her.

Again, that's awesome!

I've never seen a flute like that. My daughter also plays flute, in addition to keys.

Those are some really great pics, Alex!

Smitty, these flutes are designed for younger kids to play, and they are actually full sized, but having the bent end means they don't have to stretch to reach the keys. Her next one will be a standard straight one though.

Thanks, Ray!
Both my kids are very musical. Liam plays Bass, Guitar, Piano and Clarinet. Hannah plays Flute and has started learning Piano.
I guess it helps that my wife is a professional Clarinet player with Orchestral experience and a Masters Degree in Music (Classical Performance). She also teaches Clarinet in a couple of private schools here. I play guitar, bass and drums.
They both needed new instruments. Hannah's flute was wearing pretty badly, and Liam was using an old Aria P/J bass I rebuilt that is really too heavy and old for him.

ORANGE --- he got an ORANGE!!!!! I want an ORANGE!!!!

Very cool looks like the family that plays together ;)

Thanks, Ray!

That is a nice musical enviornment.

I keep pushing my nieces to take up an instrument that they (or better yet, I) enjoy so we can bond a little. So far, they just take violin under thread of death from my sister. I keep telling her that it will only stick if they enjoy it, but she has chosen to ignore me

We're lucky. My kids don't need threats to practice. (At least most of the time!) They willingly pick up their instruments and just go for it!

Same here Tony. I got a nice bottle of Sailor Jerry rum and a new archery glove. That suits me fine! I could have done with just the look on my kids faces when they were unwrapping their gifts!
