Good fortune & horse trading with a certain Ferengi, has brought me into possession of a real live John Birch Hyperflux 5 pickup.
Yeah, one of the brands of pickups that Iommi used...
Now the only logical guitar choice must be an SG. I have one of those.

But the question is, should I stick it in the neck, middle or the bridge?

our resident KING OF THE HIPPIES @JohnnyGoo had a HAND in this one as well ;)
mmmmmmm.. the 5er is a neck pup -- (IVe put those in the bridge before) and it just looks BALLS ASS TOUGH to have a BIRCH with all the adjustment screws......in the base
but..........................................it might SOUND FOOGHIN KILLER in the MIDDLE?!?!?!

Depends more on the overall output level, in comparison to the other pickups.
Generally you want a higher output pickup in bridge position…lower in neck. For balance.

All I could find specwise so far, was this from a Reverb add.

About This Listing
John Birch guitars created the classic 70,s UK rock sound with the highly acclaimed pickups used by many famous artists from that era. In 2015 we re captured the sound in to standard size humbuckers using 22 exposed multi poles, high output 13K and 16 K Ohms coils and the latest technology in magnets that have been recalibrated by cryogenics and called CEM. They have been very successful with over 300 sets sold worldwide, an easy and affordable upgrade for many guitars. Sent next working day tracked and signed by Royal Mail. Pleas note we are stocktaking from 26 09 until 04 10 so please order after these dates, plenty in stock.

And a stock pic from Birch's site.

On this guitar the middle pickup has it's own volume & tone pots.
The neck & bridge share the other pair, along with the 3 way switch.
Neck & bridge are Gibson Classic 57's
