Neck Profiles - Dealbreaker or Preference???

I prefer big necks. They feel more comfortable to me. My 2016 Gibson SG T Series has a .951" neck with a 1-11/16" nut width. This is a good neck. My Von Herndon Custom Doubleneck has 1.125" thick neck profiles 1-13/16" wide and this is a super comfortable profile.

My new 2016 Gibson Les Paul Studio T Series has the "Slim Taper" which is between the 58 RI and the 1991 Classic and it is not as comfortable as the larger profiles. However, it doesn't casue me pain.

What are your thoughts???

Let's face it....the neck is where its at. It's what connects you to the guitar.

My 2017 LP classic is slim taper. I Love it. However, all of my guitars have different neck profiles, but they all have characteristics I like. The slim taper is really comfortable for me though. I don't have small hands, but I don't have long fingers either.

One thing I'm 99.9% sure of, and that is that my next guitar will have a Prestige 5 piece Super Wizard HP maple/walnut neck. Yes sir.

I have tried to decide which I like best and it usually ends up that I don't really have a preference. What ever guitar I pick up I adapt to it and play.
This may be due to my lack of skill and at some point I may develop a size and style I really like...

When I am playing the massive doublenecks, I am a confident monster. When I switch to a slimmer neck, I go through and adjustment period where it takes me a while to get comfortable...

I'm with Black& eSGEe on this. The 60's thin taper.
My 61RI has a perfect neck for me.
Same with my PRS Custom 22, with the wide thin neck profile. It fits me.
The Gretsch Corvette also shares a similar profile, it has quickly assumed keeper status.

I wonder what my '98 Fender American Std. Strat's neck profile is? Is it a C or Modern C? If anyone here knows please let me know...I like it's neck profile a lot also. But my favourite would still be the 60's slim D-taper.

What Year/Model???

It's a 1998 American Standard model...hey that means my Strat is 20 years old this year. I better bake it a birthday cake sometime soon.:) Hope that info helps Rockin'Robby. I'm hoping it's a Modern C since the thickest part of the neck is shifted a bit upwards towards where the low E string is. Am I right Mr. Von Herndon?
