New Camplifier Day. Ray turned me onto this company that makes a drop in amplifier for the Kemper toaster. Emailed them a bunch of questions and wound up ordering their SHP, a 140w per channel stereo amp that can be ganged for a 280W mono into 4 ohms. Picked it up at the Post Office today. Dropped it in, cabled up the Kemper gear and started checking it out. So I go,to crank with the Kemper Rig Volume knob and I’m like WTF, my 10 watt Fender amp is louder. So I turn it off, cable in to the 280w ganged input and output and not much Volume difference. Bummed.

I’m trying different patches but nothing cranks. Then I look closer at the Kemper (which I have not spent much time with) and here’s this master volume knob. Hah, I twist that digital knob around, turn up the guitar volume and hit an power cord. Holy crap, glad I was in the unfinished padded studio as this monster sound comes out. Had I been in the living room it would have knocked pictures off the wall. :dance:

I played through it for about an hour as my ears started to ring. I’m drinking the Kemper cool-aid. :dood:

Nice D, oh man those moments..they mess with us. yesterday working on the mesa tube rolling..i was frustrated ..no sound coming out..changed guitars,,everything, i could think , Finally ,,look down..have the guitar cable in from other rig..drove myself nuts,,lol

I'm pretty stoked right now. My 2x12 Mahogany tongue and groove cabinet will be covered in black elephant tolex with gold piping and wheat cloth with a real leather handle, jack plate with stereo/monoswitching and ground lift.

Its all about staying in the budget...and getting the most for your $$$...well, for me anyways...

Once I figured out the master volume knob I was doing some metal pedaling on the low E (and I’m not a metal guy). When I turned around the amp head almost vibrated off the speaker cabinet :run:. So I put it on the floor and watched the speaker grille cloth move about a 1/2 inch when pedaling. That kone was moving some air.

I'm still very interested in the Kemper. Its certainly not off the table yet, but with a smaller budget, I needed a lightweight rig that I could fun easily with cash on hand, and get it up and running ASAP because I still have to use it for work everyday.

The Marshall head/cabinet was a logical, affordable and sensible choice, albeit quite traditional and predictable in nature. I feel more comfortable with gear that I fully understand.

My Les Paul's may be fake, but my Marshall's are real.

My Strats are of the lower dollar caliber, but they work for me.
