I wanted a 112 cab to run with my SC20 combo to have a little mini stack. I was looking at the SC112 cab, but I wasn't happy about the price or the open back. I wanted a closed back cab so I was looking around and found a used, but mint (open box), MX112R cab so I bought it. It arrived today and I've been playing it all afternoon. I think it's a great sounding cab and matches perfectly. I even like the Seventy-80 stock speaker. Everybody rags on these speakers, but I think it sounds great!

Super happy with it!

MX112's are nice cabs - I had a pair with my DSL20HR, but recently sold the lil' stack to make room.
I didn't mind the Seventy-80's until I started A/B-ing them with other speakers.

Do you have the stock VT Jr. in the SC20?
You might like the V-Type in the MX if you want a change.
I see them fairly cheap used, and I think they are great speakers.

No, I didn't like it much, but it was better than a G10 GB IMO. I'm done trying V-type and Greenback speakers. I keep trying greenbacks because everyone always suggests them, but I've never liked them. I have a WGS Veteran20 in it my combo and it sounds way better than anything else I tried. As for the cab, if I do ever decide to swap the speaker I have a '82 vented back G12T-75 I'd like to try first. I also have a Jensen Nighthawk that's pretty nice. If either of those didn't work out, I'd order a WGS Veteran 30.

I think the 70/80 can work in a closed back cab. I guess it depends on the amp settings and pickups.
Nice score, congrats!

With this cab I'm running the eq all at noon. I played it that way with my LP Standard with hot pickups (16k bridge) and my LP tribute with low output vintagy pickups (8k bridge) and they both sound great. I've ALWAYS had to turn down the bass (9 o'clock), then set the mids a little higher (10 or 11 o'clock) and the treble even higher (12 - 2 o'clock). I've never been able to run the eq even, but this cab sounds best that way.
