Picked up this 2003 MF280B cab today.
A little road worn, but original Vintage30MF speakers all dated 2/28/03.
Oh, and it came with this amp...

Seller said he's not gigging anymore, and this big cab is taking up too much space.
Head was purchased in 2021 as a backup and has about 2 hours on it.
Half hour drive, $650 in the car for the rig.

Sweet! Congrats! How's it play?
The cab sounds glorious.
36h x 30w x 13d - massive size and sound.

I've had some little DSL's (1HR & 20HR), but it's my first time playing the version with channel modes.
I can see why so many like the 40/100's.
Very versatile and easy to dial in something I like from clean to mean.

But I have to admit, I bought this rig with the intention of flipping the head and keeping the cab for next to nothing.
So I united the speakers with their intended betrothed...

There was no contest with the 800.
Probably going to stick with plan A and sell the DSL.

What are the diffs between the Mesa oversized 4x12 straight vs the Mode Four straight cab?

I don't have all the deets right offhand but, IYKYK applies here, I (maybe mistakenly) believe.

Other than speaker selection and [ply]wood, what's up here?

Reason I ask is I frequently run through the big MesaxV30 cab; usually a Fractal axe III...It's supposedly the 'oversize' one...

All my Marshall stuff is 'regular' 4x12 dimensions...1960a or 1960b...

I may be able to dig up some pictures in a bit to better illustrate...

The MF cab is particle board but so are most of the newer cabs now days.
The MF amp is pretty good for metal I think, but also pretty fragile compared to other Marshall amps.

The MF cab is particle board
Ply shell & ply baffle - back panel is the only particle board.

Seems solid to me, but the cab is just too huge for my space.

Sacrilegiously selling it empty if the guy meets up with me tomorrow, so that'll put me into positive cash on the deal.
I put the quad of "free" G12 Vintage30MF speakers in my 1922 cabs under the 4210.
