NCD Halfback

Interesting. Kinda what i thought would happen. Very tight cab..just like the Marshall small cab..really punches. Just had all my 4x12's on fr comparisn. The mesa cabis real nice..put the DSL 50 into it..automatically made that amp nasty & deeper..in a very usable way. The cabs have taught me so much. Next recordings..simply going to layer the cab voicing & keep it tight in the tracking for effect

The Mesa cab took to the 50 caliber+ & the hunch i had,,the DC3(el84's) became the vowely type lead amp..that was what i was using it for soon as i heard it. It saturates quick & is very controllable, Both the amps, the gain is left dimed. the mids are up front & the guitar volume knobs just guides it around, very dynamic pick attack amps. The DC3 can play a mean bluest edge of break-up, on the clean it can be set anywhere to break with the gain.

1 more amp to find for permanent home n the Orange cab. few are in hall up for sale as we dwindle the recording room down t the basics. mainly the cabs with all the dif speakers to mic.

The halfback is huge in the room. The Black Shadows & the k100 have been a real nice ad to the tone zone.

Have to find an identity here as the next batch are getting ready to be recorded... something slightly southern metal is happening.. Might cut the last batch done for UP (on Triple Rec) & package that as the first Album & roll onto the next Album featuring the 50 Caliber.

Just put the Mesa MK3 red Stripe with Goldtop W/ PAF specs into it. That is the "lead" tone to record. Dropped it to Class A 15 watts & oh man. Liquidy..syrupy..sting so much tonal control & dynamics off the pick attack & guitar knobs. Real cool getting the gear from the era together. Like the EV in the combo but the 4x12 opened this thing up & popped the mids right up..didn't happen on the other cabs like this one.

MK3 - 50 cal - DC played in a row is cool to hear the slight evolution in gain structure.
