NAD - Sort Of

Heeeey, that is a very cool cab! That's the Mesa/made in UK version of the V-30 so I am guessing stock, but I have never seen that cab with the V-30 option. The standard speaker is the Mesa C-90 (which sounds a lot like a Greenback but with a much bigger bottom end) and that's what my Lonestar 19 has in it. Would love to hear what that thing sounds like as the Mesa V-30 is absolutely and without question the best speaker I have ever heard for high gain.

On the Mesa web site is says the Vintage 30 is an option. It is one of the reasons I got this cabinet, and also the price was too good also.

I know you and I talked a lot about Closed vs Open back units.
This one I can make a piece for to change to closed back just to experiment.

I'll bet that you won't care for the closed back option once you try it on this cab. Especially if the cab is on the ground with walls behind it to reflect the sound. I have a lot of confidence in the fact that Mesa engineered this design to sound its best as an open cab.

Congrats on a killer amp rig...

Mesa offers the same cab as a close back also. That is why I may experiment.
So far as is it is great at low volume. The fam is going shopping to day so I will crank on it then.

Nice addition Chas. Ya got 8 different amp paths to crank and checkout. Get to it and report back

OK the first report

RED Channel clean & vintage mode, 10 & 25 watts, with my SG standard with the 57 pickups.

I think this IS the Fender killer. I used no pedals just controls, and it was sweet, jazzy, and when pushed just a bit nasty.
We all love just a bit nasty. There is no going back to Fender for me. I don't need nostalgia, just tone.
At this point Fender is just over priced for me.

Like I have said before, Randall Smith knows how to work these EL84's better than anybody else.

More reports to come.

Oh and one more thing.

Now that I have all this kick ass gear, I really do need to learn to play better. Maybe even learn some bar chords. :pound-hand:

Seriously, I do need to start earning all the primo gear by practicing more.
