When i switched to guitar in late 2015 by being forced..(guitar quit) Went & traded a bass rig came home with Peavey ValveKing 2 combo...had no idea about anything but Ampeg & Bassman amps & fender & ibby basses...bass is easy---simple...well the VK2 recorded our first CD & got Bugera v22, that was my sound with Epi SGw/alnico 2 pups & Epi es339.

Had a feeling as i was chasing tone for some songs i wrote this last month , Something..something familiar but not getting there...last week put the Jensens into my original homemade cabs always used back then...there was the sound...right around 30 watts Jensens compress real nice...put the VK2 today on em...yes, instand(welll turned out to be 45..the resonance & pres along with the class a/b offers so many precise tone dialing. Class A/B lets me run at 40 watts on 100 setting or full 25 on 25. That lil mid punch is there & Peavey cleans always were the best to me..think Southern rock type clean. Then you can go on dirt side & scoop & have a quasi Ultra/5150...key is ..just like marshall..dont over gain..VK2 has boost & 2nd stage gain button. It could be an interesting war in the bandroom. Never cared what i played..labels or cost..just make the music that comes out natural..i like this rig....took a chance on Reverb offered $210.VK2 (2).jpgVK2 a (2).jpg

Congrats! Now something else I want. You are not good for me BFT. I also need a couple of those furniture dollies to put under my cabs. Those I can afford.
my purchases run is ending soon...every winter i shuffle gear for the writing sessions...we tend to get 12 done each year in the studio from may to sept. not sure if we going in this year. Prob up the quality at home. Went through a slight heavy phase..can see the full chords & more disciplined songs started to evolve. That doesnt happen until the amps & guitars are paired up for the run. 2 more g-tars on the way then dig in & do a good solid half year of song making, Wrote this compicated 12 song story .. Queensryche ..Operation Mindcrime, influenced me so much.. have this story but if i do it,,its so political-anti this & that but just an observation tho..its a huge undertaking...tying the songs together with little musical snippets....was waiting to retire to do that but if i put it off any longer...might not be relevant as to whats going on in the world

Looks like a big fun and plenty noisy amp.

And, you really are building a good guitar stable.

The annual gear splurge then sell off...always change gear around this time & work on new material for next CD. A lil shake up in gear kicks in some new enthusiasm. Basically free jammed all month & have compiled quite a bit of basic song structure & words. now its time to organize & record. Feel the intensity & motivation to get in deep. Cool thing is..since learning to do it at home..so convenient with a flip switches & record withing a few minutes. Learned awhile back,,got to record that riff or phrase that is killer..right then & there..or chances are it will get lost. Really organized lately,,in Reaper-got a nice system going & have matched mic's & preamps to the gear they work best at. Last year was still learning ..the experiments & have been digging into recording producers & engineers & wrote all the great info into a notebook separated into guitar/bass/drums/vox/mix/master. Really comes in handy for a quick guide. Once those setings are good & right equipment for the recording..super easy..not much to do but the most important thing..play,,spend the time on the capture..that is what matters. Another thing i put hours into was getting the guitars on top a bass..with right amp/speaker, not relying on mix to fix it..advantage is..it sounds that way live cause its pretty mixed from the start, Long post..will shut up & go record..

Real quick on this amp...had i got this before the fender binge last year...would of cured alot of searching. I love Super Reverb but the music goes back n forth from rock to crunch..randomly.

Peavey cleans are fantastic..this is my 2nd go round with ValveKing 2..new observations

Having many cabs now...on celestion greenies-V30-75-vtype..it goes brit

on Eminence-more big American

on jesnsen..smack in the middle..the amp becomes a mid range monster from crunch to chime & it records so well.

If you are stuck between marshall-fender type situation..the peavey sorta lands in the middle & the speaker flavor steers.
With the gain low its Skynyrd without trying & then up the gain right into tight peavey palm mute brutality.
The class a/ab knob allows from full to very early break up..so so many sounds or slight changes are available just using this feature,..it works..it really does

the pres-resonance dials in very well..using the a/ab & these together basically represents my whole pedal board. The clean channel & gain can be set to truly click back n forth. I run it at 25 watts its right on a nice level. The 100 setting headroom goes up & also the amp hits hard in the gut if need be.

These are out there under 300..what a bargain

It has taken me full circle..this chase...might have been back to beginning..it was SG alnico 2 & LP with 59 & phat cat & es 339. There was something so cool that first CD i did. Studio guy & i always laugh,,first song. talked him into bass first..then i played a basic rhythm to it...then came time..he goes ok throw some leads down. was white as ghost..lol
but something happened on the SG & Peavey all gained up...some weird style cause i can't reach 2 octaves real good..but can hold back in timing a lil(motown & jazz bass playing for years)..to pull you in last second to make up for the speed & non ability to cover much of the fretboard...it was an incredible day..that first song..only 4 months g-tar experience...after that..in my mind..there is nothing that cant be done..if i believe in myself...there are no rules in original music other that play from the heart..get some good words to match the mood of song & let it rip...what a trip when you go out & play & the people dig it...but ya have to believe in the music..& so do your band members..if its for the music & not the look at me crap..if its for the music ..you can tell in a band..hear it. & live..they just bring it !!

I was just referring to the head being wider than the cabs it was on top of. No doubt that Jensens sound great. I have several in use also. :)
my studio is def not for the OCD. lol...not 1 thing in proper order except how does it sound..those cabs actually were built when i switched to guitar..spent hours on how much back to leave open to get the best of both worlds in a closed & open, The Cabs fit a Bugera V22 & Peavey valveKing2 that got made into a head. never would of thought how good the jensens worked with other circuits than fender. One day just tried it..wow the c12q & 12r sit well in a mix & on a p-bass & being 93db really allow the amp to open up earlier
