NAD Peavey Triumph 60 with Ultra Gain

So, I pulled the chassis to check things out a bit and found something interesting...

It turns out that the 3rd Peavey Triumph Ultra I own is actually the 2nd one I owned years back. I gave it to a guy years ago - he's no longer in Florida - but the amp I gave him is - lol.

I know this because I worked on it years back. Nice to know that the only thing that gave out was the speaker (beyond my control) - the work I did stood the test of time.

It's now all cleaned up, burned back in, and now the speaker is playing playing six Alice Cooper albums being shuffled - to let the speaker repair wear in some.

Somehow The 'Coop seemed more appropriate than BB King this time around ;)

New speaker came in. Tried it with guitar (speaker sitting outside of cab). Seems to be functional, so I'm putting wearing it in some with some music for a while, before installing it and see what happens. My first impression is not real impressed, but... will see what happens.

Well, bummer - the new speaker won't fit into the amp. First time I've tried replacing a Scorpion speaker with a 'regular' type speaker. The whole for the Scorpion is too small for the Sheffield. Oh, well. Repaired Scorpion back into the amp and Sheffield back into the box for another project (maybe a quad output 12" combo - lol).

Got a new Peavey Sheffield 12" Pro 1200+ speaker new to the door for $45 - couldn't pass it up at that price. See what happens.
need another ? i rememer gutting my 5150 cab.. just saw 1 on my bench out in bandroom the other day. Know of at least 1. now.maybe 2 more kicking around. I gave 1 away last year..so i got an odd amt of them possibly. Think i packed em in some celestion boxes

As much as I appreciate the thought/offer I'm not sure what I'd do with them at the moment short of set them off to the side for another amp project. What I'd really like to find is a 'new' replacement basket for the scorpion ultra speaker that's in it. ;)

I like trying to save older USA peavey amps - I claim that I'm saving a piece American musical history when I bring one back to life - lol...

Nice look'n rig, man...

The speakers you are talking about are the Sheffield's right? Wanna make sure I'm not passing up a chance at some Scorpions.
I've been a big Peavey fan for many, many years...
