Now we have moved to the ultra gain channel. Master volume is at half and gain is about 8 o'clock. It will go lower, but it may sound better on classic gain at that point. I haven't touched any of the other knobs.
Sounds great Chris
The clip I put up last night is the Dsl40c’s and the 3210 on red ultra 2 gain at 3, but I was using the MXR10 band eq to fuel the fire.
Cheers

After a couple days of playing I decided to go back to the Sylvania JAN 5751 in V1. It just sounds better. There is a little decrease in gain, but the clarity and depth are really quite noticeably improved. It still breaks up on the classic gain channel just fine. I was reading some guys over at MF are getting better sound by jumping the fx loop when not in use. This definitely helps 900s, so I gave it a shot. Might be a little better, definitely didn't hurt, so it stays. Of course it could all be the drugs. Now I just have to get some NOS 12AU7s to try as power valves.

Just got a Sylvania 12au7. Total game changer. I don't know how to describe it other than it sounds more alive. I'm going to get a bigger version of this amp. It just sounds too good not to.
I'm big on Sylvania pre-amp tubes, & they can usually be had for a reasonable price.
When looking at 12AU7's to be used as output tubes you want both triodes closely matched for both current & transconductance. The RCA 6680/12AU7 that I have in a (DIY) JCM800 micro is 1% matched at 10.2/10.2 mA & 2200/2200 gm. Same idea as matched power tubes in bigger amps. Cheers
