NAD: Joyo Bantamp XL Zombie II

This arrived today, got it all plugged in and just about to go test it and get it set up properly with my MS-3 etc.

It has a footswitch for channels and separate EQs for clean and dirty channels, a headphone jack, bluetooth so that you can play stuff from your phone through it, and an EFFECTS LOOP! I also bought the Bantamp carry bag.

20W solid state power section with a single 12AX7 in the preamp section. I guess it is competing with Orange's Micro Dark. I'll be running mine through a 16 ohm Orange PPC112 cab. Not ideal, 8 ohms would be better, but we'll see how loud it can get.

Okay, well I have been playing it for a bit and have a few observations,

#1 the manual is bad. Just remember that with the footswitch connected it will only work in with the channel switch on the amp in one position - like my Peaveys - in this case you want it on clean and then you can change between channels with the footswitch.
#2 switch for bluetooth is just marked 'bluetooth' and doesn't say which position is on or off. With the switch in the down position it is off and the power light is red, When it is up the bluetooth is on and the power light turns blue.
#3 So I advise leaving the switches pointing away from each other, that gives you channel switching and turns bluetooth off.
#4 It is not as loud as I was hoping. I think this is due to the fact that I only have a 16 ohm cab. If I had an 8 ohm cab I would be able to get a lot more output out of the solid state power section. I had the clean channel dimed and I'm still not confident of being heard over the drums at band practice.
#5 It is very bassy. I tried to alleviate this with boosts etc. It was especially bad with my PT Apocalypse, which still needs height adjustment on the pickup. From the woofiness I got with this amp it definitely needs to be adjusted down. My Stiletto was much better and it has the pickup further from the strings.

Other than these points it is a a great amp. I'd like to try it with a Neo Creamback 8 ohm speaker.

So many FLAVORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like Baskin Robbins opened an AMP STORE!

I have the original zombie. It's a pretty killer little unit, but no, it will not be loud enough for band practice. I say that having tried.....with a 4x12. Maybe you could ask the drummer to turn down his drums a little though lol

I have the Mooer Baby Bomb 30 and that is loud enough for band practice, even with this 16 ohm cab. So I can stick with that setup if needed. I was just hoping this would be able to do it as I am sick of connecting all of those AC adapters and the Mooer M009 preamp that I am using with it is not able to be switched remotely via the MS-3. I am wondering if it is the ohms load that is the real issue for the Zombie. Was the 412 16 ohm or 8 ohm?

1960A, switchable. In mono.....would have been 16 I guess
Also tried it with an old shitty Line 6 4x12 I have. That one would have been 8, I think.
I remember thinking it actually sounded better with the Line 6 cab, though I can't say it was any louder, really.
Tbh, I haven't played with my Zombie in some time now. The last couple times I played with it I ran it into the return of the fx loop on my DSL100...
