Well for some reason this appeared, Don't know someone who live 5 miles from you who builds amps, its too easy. Got that killer Super lead 100 R/T last week from him. Happened to mention That having R/T & JVM410h, was looking at 1 more tone Zone.. Jose style more so Hot JCM2204 tone. Well, here we have it. Interesting thing, it is running Drake power. So it's not stock transformers. It literately sits right on top The SL100 sonically with 1 more gain stage. Going to be a fun 10 songs this recording go round !

Yeti has a taken a journey back to its builder. Under the mic today. I was hearing something didn't hear last night jamming(had it loud-the only way)

There is a weird artifact in the tone at certain points in frequency. I laid the whole rythym track down for the song, double tracked most of it. have to pull quite a bit out of it now re record. In the long run i will get more depth this way but going to have a heck of time being up the original guitars rear by not playing immediately after the take while its ingrained.

My observation. The amp is 1 stage gained up from the SL 100 R/T, reminds me of a 2204 boosted. very nasty and aggressive - in that 800 bright kinda way, exactly what i wanted. Slice & dice for sure in the mix - boosts incredible.

What is happening the MV come on strong at end of dial & so does the PT that adds gain & volume used in tandem to dial in. I feel these control arn't right and something very strange is happening at volume. I play and record at band level(think kick drum set to) so i won't run an amp any other volume. no need to cause i set to band always - priority 1 is have the tone from practice to studio -to stage consistent. Anyways when it is where i need to be, the strange artifact is happening. Like at the power stage something is not right. Up to that volume its sounds good but not at cooking proper volume i need

I wonder if it's a kit build, have you verified it was built by Ceriatone? The only way to know is to pull it out of the headshell and look for a sticker on the side of the chassis.

I still have my King Kong 50, channel 2 is the Yeti, but with an optional boost. I'm going to be selling it so last night I fired it up to be sure it's all working right after I replaced the pilot light and yes it does and it's a f'king beast! If I could put different power tubes in it (other than the EL34 equivalents) I would probably have a hard time letting it go.

That is a cool amp the KK ! I believe something was messed with in the power stage of this amp along the way and my gut said I have to part ways cause i will gig these amps and not into a project amp.

Something bothers me looking at the output transformer looks to small wounder what the primary is ?? should be a 3K3 plate to plate
on a 50 watt EL34 amp the best sounding Marshall 50 watt amps I have owned used a Dagnall 784-139 output transformer
should look like this

Bro, excellent call ! I did the research and just found out its a Drake 784 389 JTM/Bluesbreaker RI one. So it kinda makes sense, if the circuit values arnt right for that transformer the power end is a mess. Pretty amazing reply my friend and right up the alley i was thinking(not a tech) that something was wrong once volume came up. This actually has me watching a lot of videos now and learning to grasp the circuits.

A Drake 784-389 is 7.5K designed for a pair of 5881 or 6L6 not EL34 and if they used a power transformer from a Bluesbraker a 6L6 filament draws .900 amps each
and EL34 filament draws 1.5 amps each. The early Bluesbrakers used Radio Spares transformers and could run KT66 filament 1.5 amps no issue.

Exactly what my research led me to. Appreciate your reply, had to take that amp back.

Congrats on your tone quest bro, you are on fire my friend.
My friend, nothing but fond memories of about 2017-18 . That is one hell of a compliment my friend, I am still prodding the fire, as soon as I get some thing worth posting I will keep stoking the burn .

Stay at it and keep the flames glowing brother.
