I bet it's pretty close in sound. Unless you did something crazy in that build, I wouldn't expect it to be nowhere as near as gainy as a DSL, or JVM. But that's fine with me. That's why it's cool to have more than one Marshall...Nice score!
I have yet to play an actual Marshall to compare to my 18w TMB build.

I have an 18 watt TMB myself. It's a little firebreather. Especially when I jumper the 2 channels.
A Trinity Amps kit. Modded to run 6V6's instead of EL 84's.
Keeps up with a band live, only downfall is no reverb.

Congratulations, Hackmaster! If you would like to reduce the gain on the red channel, all you need to do is replace the 12ax7 in V1 with a JJ ecc823 valve. Green channel remains untouched, but the red will be reduced by 20-30%. I have a feeling that you will really dig this simple change.
From what I researched earlier, that means they are Chinese. IMO, that's a good thing.
Upon Sir Goldmembers glowing recommendation, I ordered one of these JJ ECC 823 preamp tubes last night from the Tube Depot.
I will report back on my results in a couple of days when the tube arrives.
While doing further research the ECC 823 seems to be the miracle drug for many unruly Marshall applications.
The gain on the red channel does seem to be a little over the top. Anything over half way on the gain knob is pretty unusable
and fairly hissy.
The green channel is beautiful. Clean and chimey with just the right amount of hair at higher gain levels.
If I remember correctly, you have the TAD 7025 WA's. Guess what? Those are Chinese, too.I been very happy with the 7025TAD's in my DSL40C's. Very schmoothe..

The chinese el84s and sovtek 12ax7s I got to get the build running are ok, good to troubleshoot or use in a fix.
I cant hear much of a difference in a lot of things folks talk about with tubes or pedals or pickups, tone caps, etc.
But after getting the startup done, a JJ 12ax7 at v1 sounds like a wet blanket was taken off the speaker cab.
With JJ or Sylvania power tubes the clarity, articulation and just the presence of the sound is noticeably better.
True mainly clean into cleanish crunchy, but add a lot of fuzz or dirt it dont much matter.
