All the Fractal users swear they sound awesome, but a lot of the demos leave me wanting. I can find some pretty damn good examples of real plexi's and 2204's doing what they should. So, finding a good Fractal demo is nice. I do have complete confidence in one particular guy who I used to rely on for superb Marshall info, really knows his stuff. He has gone over to Fractal and just raves at how good they sound. Him, I can trust.

The thing is most people can't afford to buy all the different amps that are out there. And even if you could there are space limitations not to mention moving them around.
With one piece of gear you can do a damn fine job of emulating those amps through modeling. Using the Kemper you can model the EXACT amp in question. That is the
beauty of it. You have a large group of people profiling the real amplifier and then sharing those profiles. So with a quick download from the web I have loaded over 300 prime
amp profiles into my Kemper and with the twist of a dial I can bring up the sound I'm looking for. If the sound needs tweaking I can do that too.

The AXE units have even more depth...so much so I'm almost afraid to try one. I'm guessing the learning curve is deep.

I agree. But I haven't owned most of the amps I have been able to try.

And for years, I had almost no desire to play any amp other than my 2204. It was my everything. So one good amp can be a thing.

I even bought the Mustang for the 60's British model. But the last few years, I have been wandering to the Fender models more and more, even using reverb and slapback, something I would never have considered on my dry classic British tone. :shock:

I still say try to find some real classic amps to try, just for the experience. Fender, Vox, Marshall, hell..the best sounding amp I ever played was a 50's Silvertone. The tremolo was otherworldly, tone was so deep and so rich.

The Kemper demos I have heard sound even better that the Fractal. But the AX8 fits my desire to have it at my feet for switching. And it is cheaper than the Kemper or the AXE FX. P:lol:

 
I still have four "regular" amp. I have a Spider IV, a Fender Super Champ head, a VOX AC15C1 and two of the Silkyns which are 6L6 amps. I just don't see myself using them anymore.

I also have the remote floorboard for the Kemper so I can control it by foot if need be.

I would love to try that setup. I love the tones I hear from the Kemper. Its tones seem to be more obviously good than the Fractal, easier to demonstrate.
