He is certainly a strange fellow, he has done an excellent job and his guitars are excellent (although not my thing, I haven't tried many to be fair), but he is a strange fellow - I certainly wouldn't get worried about upsetting him because he's that kinda fellow; his ego is out of control although to be fair to him with the stuff he has achieved with his company, he has good reason. But, that's enough about Ray, let's talk about Paul... 
No, RVA, don't worry about a strange conversation with that fella, he is talented and achieves, but I doubt he has many normal conversations.
&, I'm not fond of grovers either; ugly, heavy and clunky looking to my mind - much prefer a Gotoh or Schaller or even the good old Kluson style (even the ones made by Grover).
