A few months ago, i was refueling my only car - a 2006 Mustang GT. It was over 100°F, so i left it running.
A few minutes later, a giy refiing on the other side of the pump said, "Hey, Mister. You better shut it off or it might blow up."
I noticed a NASCAR sticker and a '24' in his back window, so I replied with a question:
"You like NASCAR?"
He said, " Well, Hell ya, Man!"
I asked, "Who's your favorite driver?"
He responded, "Jeff Gordon, #24 all the way, Man!!!!"
I said, "They shut his car off to refuel it?"
He thought for a minute and said, " I'll be damned, i never thought about that!!!!"

We keep our vehicles waaay too long. Can't buy a new car right now, we should have traded the Genisis a couple years ago.
The wife's Grand Am oddly never had a head gasket change and she had it 17 years!
Too long.
I would like to trade off n up every 4 years or so while on warranty.

Specifically...when we got to court, the officer said i passed his parked location, Northbound Highway 99 at Avenue 200 in Tulare, California.
I was nowhere near wide open, but was doing 135mph indicated
The officer tried to catch up in his 1983 Dodge St. Regis.
Several miles ahead, i slowed and exited Tulare Avenue. A few miutes later, while stopped at the intersection of Tulare Avenue and Prosperity, the officer pulled up behind me and activated his red spotlamp. I pulled over immediately.
The judge said there was no evading (officer did not activate lights/siren while trying to catch up) or Reckless driving (based on empty freeway) and the judge challenged the officer's speed estimated based soley on my passing him while taking a leak.
I was admonished by the judge for speed, but he commended my honest account of the event.
