This was my 1st Marshall:
Lead15 Micro Stack (G15MS)

1st Marshall.jpg

Sold it a few years ago when I wasn't using it.
Always kinda missed that amp, but even with a few different speaker upgrades, the little 10" speakers never held their ground against bigger amps with 12" speakers.
I see them for sale fairly often at anywhere from reasonable to WTF prices.
Not really interested in the little cabs, so I just pass them by.

Well, this popped up on GC a few days back and I was overwhelmed with nostalgia.
Just the head, good condition, no cabs, and what I thought was a decent price.
Pulled the trigger...

Showed up today, and after a good cleaning, this little fella is in near perfect condition. :yesway:

Took the chassis out for a visual inspection while I was also cleaning 24 years of funk off the shell.

When I get the chance, I'm going to pull the chassis on the G15RCD combo and compare.
I'm fairly sure they are identical amps, but I'm interested to see first-hand if there are any differences.

Tried it out on the Haze15 cabs and then stuck it on top of the little combo duo.
I've installed a switching jack on the back of the Lead12 to isolate the 12" GB as a cab only.
Sounds awesome in stereo with the G15RCD on the bottom.

Wow, that looks brand new. Congrats, HNAD!!

Fun stuff! Enjoy.

I’ve gotten some good stuff off GC used gear over the years.
Thanks,
GC doesn't often have great prices on the used stuff, but their return policy is hard to argue with.

Here's another Lead15 head that listed after I bought the one I got. It's a few bucks less than I paid, but it's beat up.

Ok, here's a quick comparison of the Lead15 (G15MS) and the G15RCD.
I've always assumed they were basically the same amp in overpriced micro-stacks and bargain combos.

Face to face pretty much tells the tale.
Other than the brushed metal vs. plastic faceplate.

Spring tank location varies for the speaker jacks on the Lead15.
Power cord jack vs. fixed cord.
Variation on the front (and rear speaker) jacks.
Boards have a different number, but the same layout.
I'm going to say same amp with a few different external options.

So when you see something like this on GC, wonder no more - except for the prices.
Ok, the combo is an 8" P.O.S. speaker, but the 10" stock MG speaker in the little cab ain't much better...
Great little single channel amp(s) when they're run out to some proper 12" speakers (imo).
